” The show contained outrageous puns and veiled Cold War commentary that sailed over the heads of the children who were its primary audience “
FYI - HULU.com has 111 episodes (4 seasons) available for streaming...
One of my guilty pleasures is to retreat there when politics and the world’s problems start to get too intense.... ;)

the cartoons that came from Jay Ward Studios were "seinfeld" before there was a seinfeld.
Hopefully there will be a memorial placed at Anderson's alma mater, Whattsamatta U ;-)

Love it that the evil enemies of Moose and Squirrel were portrayed as commies.

Interesting. I'm a big Bullwinkle fan and never knew of this guy's contribution.
However, that pic is wrong. It's a pet peeve of mine that so many illustrations (including VHS and DVD covers) show Bullwinkle with gold-colored antlers. Bullwinkle was brown all over.

I loved all the great Cold War jokes they slipped into the cartoons.

Secret Agent: Does this mean anything to you? Army Intelligence.
Rocky: Sounds like a contradiction in terms.

Isn’t that the formula for a successful kiddie show, one with jokes the parents can get a laugh out of too?

I've got 26 episodes on DVD that I bought at a Cracker Barrel. I'm going to have to break them out tonight.
