For liberal groups, "Daily Show" rally on Mall, not just for laughs

Jon Stewart has tried to paint the "million moderate march" he will hold on the Mall this Saturday as a live-action version of his comedy show, a satirical take on political demonstrations.
But some liberal groups are doing their best to adopt the rally as their own. Democratic clubs from colleges across the country are sending buses to the event, offering a seat in exchange for a few hours of volunteer time. President Obama, who seemed to talk up the rally at an event last month, is expected to appear on Stewart's "The Daily Show" just a few days before.
And when the Huffington Post's Arianna Huffington announced on the show that she would be offering free transportation to thousands of takers from New York City, she tried to cast herself and Stewart as collaborators in the progressive movement. "You work on the message," she told him. "I'll work on the logistics."
It was, of course, inevitable that a politically tinged event on the Mall three days before the midterm elections would turn, well, political. In a year when conservatives have been more enthusiastic, liberals were quick to view the rally as a call to arms - even if it is inspired by a man who has lately been skewering the Obama administration and who bluntly says he feels no allegiance to their political agenda.

We deserve every miserable thing coming our way.
Look at the post below that one.
I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s going to inspire a larger Republican voter turnout.
Seriously, what difference does it make either way? They have these big gatherings all the time. I was reading some material that shows the voting trend has been happening for over a year now. This much anger has been building for that long—do you really think even one person is going to go, “Hey wait—there’s a lot of people at this rally! I’m NOT voting for a Republican now!”?
I read in his appearance at USC he had to get Jamie Fox to do a concert before the event because they had only handed out 4,000 tickets. Even with the concert and 21,000,000 democrats within 50 miles of USC he drew 18,000.
This is the end of Stewart and the other guy being entertaining to anyone who isn’t a radical witless lesbian.
They’ve decided to go after Madcow’s market. Adios.
“You mean phony JOHN LEIBOWITZ,”
He’s been whacky since he lost his sister Fawn, in a kiln explosion!!
nope, I must be foolish...
You said in that post too....labot...
I can’t get the comparison if the word you are using doesn’t exist. The context is lost on me :(
The joke will be on these gullible college students, who will be expected to pay the trillions of dollars of national debt that BO is loading on future generations of Americans.
The parents of any student who goes to this event should boot them out of their bedrooms and basements and tell them to fend for themselves. It’s too bad that they were stupid enough to vote for the first Communist president, but saving Dingy Harry and Queen Pelosi’s death grip on their gavels is unforgivable. Intelligent people learn from their mistakes.
If the lefty in charge shows up, and Stewart can’t resist preening for the cameras, he’ll probably be wearing a bullet proof vest.
I'll walk ya through it.
Incorrect due to typing error:good works are labot; giving
Corrected:good works are ABOUT giving
Get it now?
Have to agree.
I’m going to send you a private comment, captioning that picture.
Keep in mind that I’m in a wheelchair myself when you read it.
8^)
the guy is mentally ill.
I don't know what the final attendance was, but when I was listening to the Gopher game on the radio, the announcers stated that although the rally was to start in a few short hours (and the gates to the venue had already opened), it was like a ghost town. They then switched to talking football, but they did say that the "expected" traffic delays had not yet started.
There was also mention of possible clashes, later in the afternoon, between the football fans, and the political students.
Wonder if they found porta potties yet? It is really going to be a cr@ppy rally without literally anywhere to go!
Did they finally help that poor guy the next day during the massive cleanup? There’s just too much compassion out there.
Great news...they'll be too hungover, too tired and too busy trying to catch up with homework and/or trying to reclaim their cardboard box to vote.
The left has a great fear of the American people.
