If Republicans take control of the House, there is "not a chance at this point" that they will try to impeach President Obama, a top Republican lawmaker said this week.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who would helm the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee if the GOP wins on Election Day, said that his party will not try to bring impeachment charges simply because it disagrees with the president.
"Not a chance at this point. I dont see it happening," Issa said when asked if there is a chance of impeachment on Bloomberg's "Political Capital," which airs over the weekend.

This is NOT what I am voting for! We must make it clear to the RINOs that impeachment is ON THE AGENDA, not just on the table.
With this I agree. However, if investigations of the GM Bankruptcy deal, or anything else, turns up high crimes or misdemeanors, then it's a different story.
Regardless, Issa has toned himself down recently and it's disappointing.
Unless you can get 67 senators to vote for a conviction, there’s no point in impeachment. Impeachment and no conviction would damage the Republican in 2012.
Issa doesn’t get it. Obama doesn’t deserve impeachment because the Republicans disagree with him. He deserves impeachment because he is destroying the country he took an oath to preserve. I don’t care if the oath was on a Koran - that was HIS choice, not ours. IMPEACH HIM!!!
Was it Issa that put a call into Rush this week?
You must have missed this being posted around midnight:

I never sleep.
You are so right. Vote Pelosi to teach Issa a lesson!
Issa is doing the right thing. Keep your head down. Keep your mouth shut. Win this battle, then go fight the war.
Agreed. We saw how useless impeachment without removal was when the GOP did it to Clinton. Unless there are 67 senators willing to vote for conviction, which translates to at least 70 GOP Senators or more, then there is 0 point to impeachment.
I'd rather a GOP Congress focus on defunding and repealing 0bamacare and reducing the size of government (yes I know both are pipe dreams) than going after 0bama directly since such an attack will fail.
Impeachment would be almost certainly an over-reach and backfire. Unfortunately while logic has its influence even in 2010, remember 53% of your fellowcitizens voted him in the first place so crticize and investigate but unless there is such evidence that the populace demands he be dumped, I say keep him on and let his incompetence and traitorous behavior top the Dhim ticket in 2012. In fact if R’s are smart, they might prop him up some, withholding results of investigations, which they then release in July 2012 when Zero is the nominee, lol. Do the MSM trick on Zero like MSM did on McCain.
and economy is #1, #2, #3 anyway. While i think the country is center-RIGHT, we will be judged first by the center on economy. If we can show competence there, then we can extend the necessary reforms in other areas, and the Indies will trust us.
Oh sure..I will let the dims keep the house..That’ll show em../S
That I think is more of a realistic possibility than impeachment and removal. 0bama, unlike Clinton, has shown no inclination to move to the center to save himself. Even if the GOP wins only the House of Representatives he will no longer have a Congress that rubber stamps anything he wants.
If the GOP does the right thing and defunds most of the government, then 0bama is going to be quite bored the next 2 years.
I never thought for a minute Obama would be impeached. The republicans won’t do it.
You hit the nail on the head. With so many people out of work, the GOP should be focused on the economy first. Impeachment right out the gate WILL backfire, and will show the people that the GOP isn’t interested in helping the jobless get work.
“not a chance at this point”
You really thought they’d come into Congress and start impeachment proceedings in January??
Come on, chill with the “betrayal” stuff. It’s pointless unless you have 67 Senators too. And are ready to impeach Biden too.
There’s only 1 realistic way we can be rid of Obama, by beating him in 2012.
Now, on the other hand, there are going to be some Democrats in the House who can be dealt with quite brutally ~ and 24/7 hearings on Democrat corruption should be the order of the day.
> such an attack will fail.
Ditto.
Does 0bama deserve to be impeached?
Of course.
Will he be convicted?
No.
Rather than deny this communist usurper his second term, an impeachment trial would almost guarantee it.
Better to focus on defunding his looney legislation and gridlocking the DemonRATS from advancing any more of their agenda. We will need an American president to advance our agenda.
Passing laws that won’t be signed by the communist Kenyan will be a nice gesture, but I already know he will veto every piece of Republican Legislation. Every piece. He’s smarter than that, but he can’t help himself. His ideology and his narcissism will trump any political good sense he may have.
Good. He will overplay his hand, once again, and that would increase our chances of denying the commies a second-term presidency.
I am telling everyone I know not to vote for ANY of the SOBs that are in office now.
I had all this info BEFORE the election, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9evCOUZnTVY and I know damn good and well they did too, and more.
NONE of them acted on it, none called him out on it, that makes them ALL just as quilty as him
including Issa
Just my two cents worth. Don’t flame me, please.
I don’t want to impeach this moron.
I want us to DEFEAT him, in Reagan vs. Mondale fashion. You know, where the whole map is red and one tiny space is blue. Yes, just like that.
Besides, depending on his losses in ten days, the establishment Democrats will be tripping over their own feet to make him irrelevant. If he goes down hard, bumpy, with guts squishing all over the place, all we have to do is step aside. The Democrats have more to lose here; all we have to do is get out of the way. There is no way we’ll have to do the dirty work for these cowards. They won’t stand for this ass to wipe their farm team out for a generation. Their egos are too massive and their quest for power too great. He is THEIR problem and they will handle it. For the most selfish of reasons, btw.
In an election season in which we have our first good chance to bring a few African Americans back home, in some measure..why bother with impeachment? This guy is too small to impeach, seriously. We can let the Dems deal with this in their 2012 primary and then the 2012 election. Because they have balkanized their party on racial lines, they lose either way.
We can handicap Obama in other ways...via defunding, investigations, gridlock, etc. Impeachment will simply “rev” up the left in ways that Clinton’s impeachment didn’t. Let the Dems house of cards fall down on it’s own weight.
I want Palin to take him on, minus his crutch, the teleprompter. This is a fight that needs to happen in this country.
You know, the first president I was old enough to vote for was Reagan. I was so proud, signing in on that sheet, feeling like a rather big cheese. Somewhere, in my stuff I moved from Ohio to Utah, there is a sticker. It says “I voted, 1980.” I still have it.
First principles, only bold colors, no pastels. And no weaseling via impeachment.
I want this fight. It’s a fight for the ages. Humiliation, refudiation (yep), and full DEFEAT are the goal.
