If Republicans take control of the House, there is "not a chance at this point" that they will try to impeach President Obama, a top Republican lawmaker said this week.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who would helm the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee if the GOP wins on Election Day, said that his party will not try to bring impeachment charges simply because it disagrees with the president.
"Not a chance at this point. I don’t see it happening," Issa said when asked if there is a chance of impeachment on Bloomberg's "Political Capital," which airs over the weekend.
"Look, disagreeing with the president — the president using his authority, maybe even misusing it — that’s not what impeachment’s for," he added. "Do we have disagreements? Yes. Do we want to see that the president strictly adheres to process? Yes."
Some Republicans, such as Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.) and former Rep. Tom Tancredo — who is running for governor of Colorado as a third-party candidate — have raised the specter of impeaching Obama, largely over his stance on immigration policy.
Tancredo originally proposed impeachment this year, and Bachmann said that should be left for Congress to decide.
Democrats had to answer similar questions before they took control of the House in 2006. Some believed they could bring impeachment charges against then-President George W. Bush over his prosecution of the war in Iraq and his policy on warrantless wiretaps. Party leaders eventually ruled out the move.
Issa has been in the spotlight recently, outlining his plan to oversee and investigate the Obama administration if Republicans win control of the House.

He called in to Rush's show seeking to explain himself better.
Rush then proceeded, in no uncertain terms, to tell him what conservative expected of Republicans (Rush walking up one side of him and down the other).

The lame stream media would actually have to cover the reasons for impeachment which would help educate a very naive public.
Leave him right there where he’ll do the most harm to the RATS. Don’t let him get away.
Repeal everything he has done. De-fund NPR, Endowment for the Arts, make sure Acorn stays de-funded. Drive a stake in them.
Then start investigating his every connection. Heck, start investigating Soros himself. Watch the rats go crazy. They might get dangerous, but push their buttons anyway.
An issue nobody has mentioned is that even successful impeachment of Obama would only result in Biden becoming president.
I flummoxed a number of liberals by pointing the equivalent out when they were screaming for GW’s impeachment. They weren’t particularly excited about Cheney as Pres.
It would be theoretically possible to impeach and remove both the president and veep, whereupon the Speaker would succeed. At present that’s Nancy, not exactly a major improvement, but quite likely will be somebody else in January.
BTW, I think our country would work better if impeachment were used more often. It’s clear to me that the Founders intended Congress to be dominant because they included controls by Congress over both the executive and judicial branches. These have not been used, and this allows Congress to successfully pass the buck to the other two branches.
I think impeachment and removal from office of every third or fourth president, on average, would have been about right.

I don’t want them to waste their time, during the next two years, on an impeachment effort. I want them to spend their political capital on repealing Obamacare and dialing back the spending that’s gone on during the Democrats’ majority in Congress. That will take at least two years, and will cause them to continue to gain support from folks who will still be hurting from this recession.
Rush also commented that we’d rather see Obama in jail... ;-)

I could see by 2012 the Dems might be so desperate that they want to see the colb. Just think the best comedy show award could go to Chris Mathews demanding to see the colb and being so shocked he tingles in a bad way. The Dems would make that call not the GOP.

That is correct. A terrible president, perhaps even the very worst. Which is what I've thought about LBJ, Carter, Clinton, and now Obama.But impeachment requires a true consensus - and there are at present no Democrats who will say that Obama must go. There weren't any in support of the conviction of Clinton, either - and look what happened, notwithstanding that as a matter of historical fact Clinton was guilty of perjury.That made me wonder if the Constitution needed amending to make the 50 governors, rather than the 100 senators, the jury in impeachments of presidents. It would be the best approximation of a jury of his peers. At least then, anyone who voted against conviction of Clinton would have been testifying against himself, that he considered that he had the right, in the same circumstances, to do what Clinton had done.
As matters now stand, impeachment would be a political suicide mission, accomplishing nothing.The real problem is not Democratic politicians, it is wire service journalism. Democratic politicians simply align themselves with the propaganda wind which blow from journalism. That propaganda wind is the natural result of the homogenization of journalism via the Associated Press and other wire services. Leftism being nothing other than the expression of the inherent biases of journalism.
After the election the Democrats might want to Impeach him.
When the 112th Congress is installed, will someone finally produce "the smoking gun" about Obozo's eligibility? We shall see. And there are "other" investigations that must be made. Bring it on.
But that's not what the Constitution says and I'll take the Constitution over LBJ. Our republic is doomed to chaos if impeachment becomes a mere political tool to overturn election verdicts. The time for a change is November 2012.
You’re 100% correct. First off it would fire up their base and i prefer them in their natural apathetic state. Second since he’s promised all matter of investigations,why not wait and see where the dust settles from all that. Should something concrete and provable appear then the next logical step can be taken.
Impeachement is giving him fuel. He’ll fall under his own weight. The walls a crumbilng around him.
