'Not a chance' of Obama impeachment under GOP House (RINO ALERT)
The Hill ^

Posted on 10/22/2010 9:17:18 PM PDT by Ira_Louvin

If Republicans take control of the House, there is "not a chance at this point" that they will try to impeach President Obama, a top Republican lawmaker said this week.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who would helm the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee if the GOP wins on Election Day, said that his party will not try to bring impeachment charges simply because it disagrees with the president.

"Not a chance at this point. I don’t see it happening," Issa said when asked if there is a chance of impeachment on Bloomberg's "Political Capital," which airs over the weekend.

"Look, disagreeing with the president — the president using his authority, maybe even misusing it — that’s not what impeachment’s for," he added. "Do we have disagreements? Yes. Do we want to see that the president strictly adheres to process? Yes."

Some Republicans, such as Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.) and former Rep. Tom Tancredo — who is running for governor of Colorado as a third-party candidate — have raised the specter of impeaching Obama, largely over his stance on immigration policy.

Tancredo originally proposed impeachment this year, and Bachmann said that should be left for Congress to decide.

Democrats had to answer similar questions before they took control of the House in 2006. Some believed they could bring impeachment charges against then-President George W. Bush over his prosecution of the war in Iraq and his policy on warrantless wiretaps. Party leaders eventually ruled out the move.

Issa has been in the spotlight recently, outlining his plan to oversee and investigate the Obama administration if Republicans win control of the House.

Moving for impeachment would be a HUGE mistake, unless he REALLY commits high crimes as president. Impeachment shouldn’t enter anyone’s mind at this point!

Beat him and the Left in the arena of ideas!

There is no point in trying to impeach. If you try and fail you are worse off. 0bama will behave even worse and his approval will plummet even more. His base may hate him for blowing it. His party will beg him to resign like the GOP did with Nixon.

Well essentially he didn't say anything...

Notice he added the qualifier "at this point". Of course Republicans aren't going to attempt to impeach Obama "at this point" there have been no investigations and no solid case to base an impeachment...

However, I'm sure that if the many congressional investigations after the Republicans take control turn up some wrongdoing, "at that point" there may be an impeachment.

No impeachment needed. We are marching to victory against this monster. America will be telling Obama not to let the door hit him on the way out after 2012.

So impeach the bastard for the crimes he's committed. Simple.

You can only impeach the President if he actually is the President. I believe that Barry has willfully deceived the American people and is not eligible to to be the President. The burden of proof has always been with Barry Soetoro and his feckless DNC minions, and he has failed on all accounts. He and Ms Pelosi need to be in prison for their crimes and conspiracies. This makes Watergate look like child’s play. I do not believe we can take another six months of the destruction going on in our country. If the Dems keep control of Congress, it will only be because of voter fraud on a scale larger than Vesuvius.

Why didn’t the allies whack Hitler? Because they realized that Hitler’s incompetence was quickening the end of the war.

Of course not. We have more important things to accomplish besides spend 2 years spinning our wheels.

And it’s going to take more than 1 election cycle to restore America to the world’s economic engine, and purge the socialists from the government, media, schools and entertainment industry.

Stupid idea.

Impeachment requires that the President has committed a crime. Good luck with that.

Sorry... and while I agree that he’s a danger to the country and the Constitution... so far that’s not a crime.

For now he won't go there, but Issa qualified his words from this article and another:

"...will not move to impeach President Obama - at least as things now stand.

"Not a chance at this point. I don't see it happening," Issa said

This may change next year if Issa and Congress find out alot more of Obama criminality later on through investigations.

This is not the time to be talking about impeachment

100% agree, let's wait till Nov. 3rd.

He also said that a president can’t be impeached beause people disagree with him.

He did not say that a president can’t be impeached if he has committed crimes and treason!

We shouldn’t be talking impeachment. Why muck up the winning issues we have with a Quixotic attempt to impeach that will never succeed and only enflame a lot of people who think defeating all of Obama’s policies is not the goal but destroying Obama personally. There’s plenty to oppose but impeachment is not the way to do it.
