National Public Radio's (NPR) firing of Juan Williams had less to do with his (benign) remarks about Muslims on airliners, but more about finding a pretext to dump him. Just yesterday, NPR CEO Vivian Schiller stooped to name-calling against Williams, stating, "that whatever feelings Williams has about Muslims should be between him and 'his psychiatrist or his publicist -- take your pick'." This belies the deep resentment NPR held against Williams for his "controversial" views. Many at NPR probably considered Williams an "Uncle Tom," just as the same left-wing epithets were tossed at great minds like Condi Rice and Colin Colin Powell. Williams' Muslim remarks were just a pretext for NPR to do what it's wanted to do for a long time: Fire Williams and derive perverse pleasure from it. Here's Williams being "controversial," speaking the truth, caring for his own community with passion, and encouraging self-responsibility:
... A streak of self-determination rises at every turn in the history of black American leadership. But since the stunning success of the modern civil rights movement--the steady rise since the Brown decision in the number of college-educated black people, as well as the concurrent growth in incomes, home ownership, and black elected officials--the strong focus on self-determination has faded, at the moment when its impact could have been the most powerful. In its place is a tired rant by civil rights leaders about the power of white people--what white people have done wrong, what white people didn't do, and what white people should do. This rant puts black people in the role of hapless victims waiting for only one thing--white guilt to bail them out. ...
NPR CEO Vivian Schiller not only suffers from white guilt, but most likely wants to maintain her subconscious notion of superiority over the people she claims to want to "help," and keep them where they are so she can maintain her self-gratifying, haughty position of "helping."

No tears for Juan!! This is just another case of the RATS eating each other.
At the very least, this woman should be fired. She has deep-sixed the organization she was supposed to be leading.
Vivian Schiller seems to be a red-diaper baby.
Lets see how long Mara Liasson stays at NPR or FOX..............
A lilly white organization fires a black man, then the lilly white female CEO tells the WORLD in effect he’s insane.
If this was in the ‘real world’ I inhabit, small business, the terminated employee would own my company in short order via the courts. My company would be subjected to picketting immediately by the NAACP, Jackson, Sharpton. The Black Congressional Caucus would put forth a resolution condemning both me personally, AND my company.
In short, I’d be forced into bankruptcy in short order.
Looking around...can’t help but notice none of this is happening to Lilly White National Public Radio...
Liberal mantras - “know your place and stay there: and “we know better than you on what is best for you”. Also “we know how to spend your hard earned money better than you do”.
Juan, come out of the dark side.
Here we are less than a couple of weeks to the election, perhaps the most important election in our country’s history, and look at what is the most discussed item in the news.
Unbelievable!
I’m on the author’s side here, but with all due respect, Ms. Schiller didn’t call Juan Williams any names. There’s plenty to criticize Ms. Schiller and NPR about without exaggerating.
Gee, whatever happened to
FAIR and BALNCED OPINIONS or REPORTING?
Why should we FUND THIS CRAP?
NPW is paid for by YOU!

Applying the “Obama standard”, any criticism of a black man constitutes racism.
She implied Williams was insane. If that’s not name-calling, I don’t know what you’d call it.
This is brilliant: now he’s on FOX’s payroll! This will save Soros a bundle. Mara Liasson will probably get her own show right after Shep. If NPR calls her the “W” word, she’ll get twice as much as Juan.
It’s time to call for Vivian Schiller to step down. She is on our tax payer dollars. If she is on our ticket, we call the shots.
This outfit seems to believe that 300 E-mails is a lot. Lets see what she thinks about 3,000,000.
and she laughed after saying it, said a lot.
Unless they want to dump her for her association with Fox News, she tows the lib/PC line closely enough for her to keep her NPR job.
