A Houston woman was confronted by hone invaders yesterday. she told the 911 op. I’m armed. and the op said take cover. I watch criminal minds and this kind of thing really scares me. I hope she gets a gun, these people don’t stop until they are stopped.
Practice until you and your gun are one. The more you use it the more
it will become routine so when you need to use it you will do it without thinking.
Otherwise having the gun will be of no use to you and it might even get taken away from you.

So you got your gun and shot off fifty rounds. Wonderful. Next step, honey: stop being such a self-righteous, unrealistic “groovy gal,” wake up, and smell the reality. You were and are lucky because the guy who has it in for you gave you a lot of warning, so you had time to arm yourself. But most people aren’t so lucky. We don’t get a written heads-up, so we’d like to be able to keep weapons around all the time. You liberals seem to think it’s not okay for the rest of us to be able to defend ourselves and carry guns around as you carry yours around now.

Owning our guns has never made me sick...and we have had all legally, registered guns since we were young.
2 would be burglars I surprised long ago respected the loaded gun I pointed at them as they attempted to enter a sliding door downstairs. They also admired my little talk on how I shoot and where I shoot.
2 burglars (these are different guys) respected my husband’s gun, my gun and handcuffs.

This past year, I had occasion to take a gun and just dry fire it .. comforting to know, in case I ever have to use one.

I'd received letters, a phone call, a few packages and several e-mails from this unbalanced stranger who'd read a few newspaper stories I'd written and taken a shine to me. When the latest letter arrived -- mentioning my boyfriend, Mike, thoughts on religion, and a trip I'd taken but hadn't told anyone about -- I was seriously alarmed. But get a gun? Surely, I'd misheard him... I used to date a guy who owned a handgun and regularly trekked into the woods with his friends to shoot. I made him move the small gun safe from beneath the bed to another room before I'd agree to stay overnight.IOW, she's an easy mark. Oops, I mean, she'll need some marks(wo)man practice. No, what you're afraid of is having to take personal responsibility for your own protection. You never, ever had a a single moments abhorance in dialing 911, full well knowing the police would use overwhelming lethal firepower on your behalf if necessary. But for you to actually have to do the deed... chills and shivers.
