The FR Canteen is Free Republic's longest running daily thread
specifically designed to provide entertainment and moral support for the military.
The doors have been open since Oct 7 2001,
the day of the start of the war in Afghanistan.
We are indebted to you for your sacrifices for our Freedom.
YAY!!!!!!!!!! Friday!!!!!!!
MA, you put together a great post tonight...like that you highlighted 3/5 Marines. That ought to bring a smile to Conor’s evening!
I’m gonna rustle up some grub, now. Nana has an ‘interview’ with a friend for a new job, possibly. She truly despises her current situation because of her boss’s inadequacies and was invited by a friend to ‘come visit us’ this evening. Fingers crossed!
See you in a bit!
North Americas Pacific Coast Redwoods are some of the biggest trees in the world. The tallest on record, Hyperion, soars 379 feet into the air.
During a visit to Californias Muir Woods National Park, I was surprised and overwhelmed by the enormity of those redwoods. Trees as tall as a 30- story building seemed to press me into the forest floor while drawing my thoughts upward.
The memory of what I felt at the base of some of the tallest and oldest trees in the world has left me with lingering thoughts about their origin. Those redwoods, like the family tree of our own humanity, are rooted in a Creator who is infinitely and eternally greater than His creation.
The prophet Isaiah caught a glimpse of this God. In a vision that mingled the wonders of a Messianic kingdom with the promise of a new heaven and earth, he describes One who makes the skies His throne and the earth His footstool (Isa. 66:1).
Yet Isaiah saw something even more overwhelming. He saw a great God who wants His people to be glad and rejoice forever in what I create (65:18). In response, lets bow before Him in humble adoration (66:2).
Evening, Kathy. & Gut Shabbos!
(yawn) Gotta go.
Nah nah..... It’s not Friday until tomorrow. Oh. It IS tomorrow.
Carry on.

T G I F!!!
A chilly morning to start but warming up a bit. A nice fall day.
If all goes well and I get my work done, I will be leaving work a little early...want to get a head start on my weekend.
Nothing much planned except try to get a little R&R.
Do you realize that next week is the last week of October? Where has it gone? And, summer? Does anyone remember this past summer? Zoom! Gone!
Time for me to make my rounds. But, you stay right where you are. Don't touch that dial. Don't change that channel. Put down that remote. Don't leave the room. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock!
Now remember, the Canteen is OPEN
Come in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, pancakes, conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS
REMEMBER THEM
