West Winning Wild CD 22 Race, Poll Shows (FL-22 Allen West)
Sunshine News ^ | 10/21/2010 | Kenric Ward

Republican Allen West narrowly leads U.S. Rep. Ron Klein in a bruising battle for South Florida's 22nd Congressional District, a new Sunshine State News Poll shows.

West leads Klein 47-44 in the survey of likely voters conducted Oct. 17-19. Nine percent of respondents are undecided.

West, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, lost by 10 points to Klein in 2008, a strong year for Democrats. But with Republicans surging this fall, West is picking up more independents, along with solid tea party support.

"West has to be the slight favorite here simply because of the turnout differential," said Jim Lee, president of Voter Survey Service, which conducted the poll for Sunshine State News.

Lee reported that West’s 3-point lead grows to 5 points among respondents who say their chances of voting are "excellent" (49-44) and 4 points among “2x” voters, or those who cast ballots in both the ’08 and ’06 general elections (48-44).

Both candidates are feeling the effects of harsh, negative advertising in the closely fought race. Klein has a 39/43 favorable/unfavorable rating while West has an almost identical 40/43 split.

The poll shows a polarized district, with West winning Republicans 78-14, and Klein winning Democrats by a nearly identical 78-13 margin.

"Clearly, this race will be a referendum on the president," Lee said. "Voters who approve of the job Obama is doing are voting for Klein 87-7, while those who disapprove of the president are voting for West 84-8.

"Since Obama’s overall job approval is inverted 52-43, we’d give the edge to West because the enthusiasm favors the GOP this year."

Campaign signs show grass roots for West, very active. It looks to me like the Klein campaign has paid operatives or union operatives putting out their signs, because they don’t bother to put them up on their own, they only put them where a West volunteer has put one up, but they get most prominent West signs matched by a Klien sign so it looks like a race. Not much to go on but that’s my little take from the district. We are all juiced up here at FR but have to remember that most people just watch FOX or the evening news, so they have limited involvement and are susceptible to the negative ads and astroturf. Lots of Jewish voters in the district will support Klein both because he’s Jewish and Democrat, only 3% of the district is black, so it really will be a tighter race than West deserves (or Klein with his 98% support of Pelosi). Klein has been advertising more than West on the TV and radio from what I’ve seen so far; hopefully that means that West has a lot to spend on a final push. Klein is focused completely and totally in his advertising in smearing West and the ads are effective in my opinion.

So . . . help if you can!

There’s a video of a Poll Watcher being REFUSED ENTRY into a polling place. There’s a police car parked outside, and the poll watcher asks for their assistance. They ignore him. He is not allowed go enter the voting place to assure the counting is legitimate.

This is why we the people need to man up. Stop whining, get your cell phone, take pictures, video, whatever. Then hire a lawyer and hit those election officials and that police officer with lawsuits. Fight back!

Thanks for the information. I'll step up my donation, for sure. It's unfortunate if Klein's nasty smear tactics are working. I watched the debate the other morning and was thoroughly disgusted by Klein, who has no respect for Col. West or his service. Klein is an example of everything that is wrong in Washington. How anyone can support anyone who marches in lockstep with Pelosi and Obama is beyond me, but especially those of Jewish descent.

AMEN! It's time to fight back.

Look everyone, we KNOW they are corrupt and we KNOW they will steal whatever they can. Let's not sit back and whine about it as it happens; let's act. We are just as capable of making videos, filing law suits, and making news as they are. We have a voice, let's use it!

Classic Quote from Col. Allen West (after being charged in the Iraq Interrogation Incident):

"If it's about the lives of my men and their safety, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can."

Good advice.

But we need to be organized.

Like the Left.

The problem is, most of us have jobs and families. We’re really, really busy with just everyday stuff.

The Left has their minions of college students, bums, and full-time activists, financed with big money from one-world hegemonists like Soros.

Basically, there are two kinds of people in the world.

There are the folks who just want to be left alone to enjoy their lives in Liberty.

Then there are the meddling busyodies who think they know better than you what’s good for you.

It’s mostly the busybodies that run for office, that staff the polling places, that run the precincts, that drive the busses.

The rest of us are busy just trying to keep up.

This election is different, though. There are a lot of candidates who are from the pool of folks who just want to be left alone, and the meddling busybodies are freaking out.

They are squealing and shrieking like stuck pigs.

They are horrified that the hoi poloi are rising up against them.

Well add antisemitic to the list of adjectives of Tea Party members. Racists, Bigots, Mysigonists, CroMagnon knuckle dragging ignoramuses, Hopelessly Nostalgic and now Jew Haters.

Absolutely. Its this day to day 'busy ness' and ignoring events thinking 'someone else will take care of it' yadda yadda yadda is why we're in this mess.

Look it, folks living in 1776 had day to day lives also. They were busy, just trying to live and feed their families. When the call went out on in April of 1775 'we're meeting at Concord!' they weren't sitting around twiddling their thumbs. They dropped the plow (literally) picked up their muskets and went to Concord! Had most everyone said 'I'm too busy for this, let someone else take care of it' we'd still be under british rule. And make no mistake, an estimated 3rd of the population at that time still considered themselves too busy and weren't any help at all. If just a third of us decide we've had enough and start to fight, we'll make a difference.

The time has come where we've got to do this, jobs or not, being busy or not, or our children will live under tyranny. And you'll be sitting around a campfire trying to keep warm at night telling your grandchildren stories about what it used to be like when we were free.

Screw the polls. Act as if this good guy is 20 points down and work 24\7 for him.

AMEN! This is crunch time, people.

We need to work for and donate to the 'good guys' (a few females in that category :) as though it's the most important thing we've ever done for this country.

Because it may well be just that.

> you’ll be sitting around a campfire

If the Left takes over, campfires and storytelling to grandchildren will be outlawed. You won’t even see your grandchildren, as they will be in the school collective sunrise to sunset and beyond.

But, good points.

We have to take a stand now.

I live in a really, really small town, less than 1000 people. More farm animals than people here. Everybody pretty much knows everybody else, so cheating at the polls would be pretty hard.

But there’s a big city just a few towns a way, a college town where the students vote in their hometowns by absentee ballot, then vote in their college town. Some of them have been heard boasting about voting in more than one precinct. Now, that is hearsay, but I still wouldn’t put it past them.

I wonder if I could volunteer as a poll watcher up there?

Oh, and how do we find out if the college student who wants to vote has already voted by absentee ballot in his home town?

I’m serious.

It’s bad enough that we can’t know if they already voted in another precinct under another name.

I would also want to ahve a list of recently deceased voters to bring with me to check the checklist at the polls.

I would. I wonder if it would be possible for a good investigative citizen poll watcher to compare voter names in the college town with the hometown of the college students? Actually get out there and investigate. If you find fraud - gather the evidence - then prosecute. As I said we’ve got to fight back.

Someone is going to have to get access to the registration sheets the polls have. You know, the ones you have to sign before voting? Then compare the sheets. If the kid signed in the college town, then voted absentee in the hometown - you’ve got him.

How we do this for 2010 I have no idea. In future, it may be that we will have to all volunteer for local parties to work at the polls, then coordinate with other poll workers in various parts of the state. Anyone?

2010 is it.

We have to knock the enemy COMPLETELY out of action, I mean seize the House with something like 70 or 80 seats of turnover, and also seize the Senate, and then move post-haste against the President from day one of the new Congress.

There may not even be free elections in 2012 if we dont settle this in two weeks time. That critical.

ALL HANDS ON DECK.
