I am betting the BS Meter will say “BS”
Most of the cities mentioned have a huge amount of Federal and State Government money and jobs. Killeen-Fort Hood...Ft Hood is the largest Army post....Austin, TX is the Texas state capital....Huntsville, AL has Goddard Space Flight Center (lots of high-paying govt and govt contractor jobs)...El Paso (how did it make this list) has a growing Ft Bliss and the new units being assigned there.
McAllen-Edinburg on this list? The Mexican Cartels must be doing well there
This...and Raleigh...are the only places I see here that make sense to me.And the fact that DC and vicinity is one of the best performing areas in the country speaks *VOLUMES* about the Madoff-like insider scam that government is today.
5. Kennewick-Richland-Pasco, Wash.
Has to be the worst part of an otherwise beautiful state. It’s full of illegals and their typical diseases: gangs, drugs, petty crime, sexual assaults, welfare dependency, unlicensed drivers, drunk drivers, etc.
I’m not sure, but maybe it was a good apple crop, or the domestic win business is doing well, but there isn’t a whole lot else going on there. If you are looking at this list as “where to move to have a better chance of finding a job” I would strongly suggest striking the tri-cities area off your list.
(Apologies in advance to Freepers who have lovely homes there, etc.)
Texas is very business friendly!!!
Better to grow wheat or grass seed which doesn't require hand labor.
Goddard is in Maryland. Marshall is in Huntsville.
*IF* true, then 5 of the top 10 are in Texas, are they not?
“Austin, TX is the Texas state capital.”
Austin has a pretty strong technology base. There’s a lot of hiring there too if your skills apply to that industry.
On another note, Pittsburgh tried becoming the “next Austin” a while back with a lot of government spending in an effort to lure tech companies to this region (the program actually started during the Ridge administration). Like everything else in this area anymore, it is another failure that still gets funding.
That’s what Gov. Good-hair will be re-elected on.
His campaign ads never fail to remind us that Texas has the best economy of all 50 states.
Goddard Space Flight Center is in Maryland
Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville. Huntsville was original HQs for NASA until LBJ established like HQs in Houston
Redstone Arsenal is also here and was a big winner in BRAC so Huntsville has had a net increase in government jobs.
And would you vote for “Sanctuary City/METRO debacle/daughter gets a get out of jail free/crook” Bill White?
Sometimes the lesser of two evils is a choice between kinda bad and horrible.
I’ll take kinda bad news over horrible news any day.
I live in Anchorage AK and my BS meter just went thru the roof.
Unemployment is very high, they are now laying off schoolteachers and the police/FD will be next. Home prices down, if they sell. Yada yada yada.....
Great economy my as....backside!
The only thing I see ‘growing ‘ around here is the number of bums on the corner.
Tri-cities?
That would be the Hanford Nuclear Reservation and DOE and DOE contractor jobs.
In other words, more government jobs.
