KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN -- To the U.S. Army soldiers and Marines serving here, some things seem so obviously true that they are beyond debate. Among those perceived truths: Tthe restrictive rules of engagement that they have to fight under have made serving in combat far more dangerous for them, while allowing the Taliban to return to a position of strength.
"If they use rockets to hit the [forward operating base] we can't shoot back because they were within 500 meters of the village. If they shoot at us and drop their weapon in the process we can't shoot back," said Spc. Charles Brooks, 26, a U.S. Army medic with 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, in Zabul province.

Establish where the 500 meter perimeter is and set up firing positions there to shoot back from.

Shoot him anyway and say that he dropped the weapon when your bullet hit him, or place the dropped weapon on the corpse afterwards.

Time to bring our folks out of there. More American blood and treasure WILL NOT resolve thousands of years of tribal, ethnic, religious and secular warfare. While I feel badly for the minority of them who are NOT into the business of killing, IT’S ALL MOST OF THEM SEEM TO KNOW.
And for those of you who fear that we’ll eventually have to fight them HERE, take comfort in the fact that our open borders and PC have guaranteed that we probably will anyway.
What to do? Here’s MY solution — but I can also guarantee that this will never happen so we’ll pour MORE blood and treasure into those sad, bleak places. Policeman of the world and all that.

From what I hear, more often than not, the village is where the bad guys are hiding.
God protect our troops, because their “CIC” won’t lift a finger to help them. Disgusting.

I was thinking more of giving them a single-shot, breech-loading, bolt-action .22, a day’s worth of MREs and water, and leaving them in the midst of the Afghan.
That’s about the equivalent of the ROEs our fighting men have to suffer, in spite of all the hi-tech, modern military equipment they have.
There is only 1 way for them to fight us here, and that would be by suicide bombers, etc. And as far as I’m concerned they can go on and do that anyway.
80+ million registered firearms, you can at least double that. They do not have the b@lls to go face to face with us.
Not just to win, but to utterly crush and grind the enemy to dust.
rEPublicans need to run with these ROE stories now hard and fast, again and again.
