The one thing that will counter 50 years of liberal indoctrination of our youth in the cesspools of the public schools and universities is the INTERNET. I tell you, the kids are surfing around, finding our comments about progressivism all over the internet and are un-doctrinating themselves. The internet has single-handedly educated people about our founding and the ideals upon which this country was conceived. There is no way to avoid it—the internet has been the tool that the libs hate the most, as you cannot pry the computer out of kids’ hands. That is why I try to post on every blog I am registered on, to keep hitting the message home again and again. They are reading us and questioning their indoctrination. Years of brainwashing are evaporating and the new “hip” thing is to be a patriot again. Yessirree-—the internet (and Glenn Beck too, of course.) The Tea Party is on everyone’s mind and tongue these days, and all you have to do is Google Tea Party once and read for yourselves what is the new Renaissance in America.
I have a child in their junior year at a well known school in the northeast.
The only time they ever mentioned anything about Obama was to briefly say "he's in over his head". Basically, dismissing him as someone who is not to be taken seriously, and definitely someone not worth arguing over.
This poll doesn't surprise me. I think kids see through the BS. It has nothing to do with political leanings.
FWIW.
Couple the dismal job prospects with the college loan balances and all of a sudden college kids are thinking twice about hope and change.
They just don’t understand.
They are too stupid to see that the Zero is trying to help them...............
Amen!! I used to feel sorry for these stupid kids....NO MORE...let them reap what they have sown....75% TAX!
Exactly. They wanted instant results on 0bama's promises, and very likely they think he's drifted too far to the right.
It'd be interesting to find out what their reactions are to prominent conservatives.
<a lot of these are people that thought this brother was going to buy them a house and get their reparations from whites.
One of my sisters, an educated person, actually told me that Obambi would ‘help the black family.’ Naturally, I was confused - how the heck was this guy going to help the black family? Of course, then I got into how she needed to help herself and not depend on the government, which, since Johnson, has done just about everything it could to destroy the black family via reliance on government aid.
In one ear and out the other...
I am not sure of that. Young voters have been hit especially hard with unemployment.
“Just like young kids all around the world on college campuses. I guess they have to learn the hard way.”

It ain’t just the kids! Half the adults I talk to don’t seem to know that there are big changes set to happen in January. They will scream when they see their first 2011 paycheck and the income tax deduction increases. They act as if they never heard of it.
“heck, i am surprised Hussein is at nearly 20% disapproval among blacks!!”

Where I live we have a high percentage and I see no Obama bumper stickers and I hear no words favoring Obama. It seems that those who don’t want to speak negatively of him are not speaking of him at all. Yes, some will speak negatively. There has always been a strange disconnect in that most black people in this area, if questioned on specific points, will give answers that indicate they are as conservative as whites if not more so but then they go to the polls and vote Democrat. If the disconnect ever collapses and black people start voting their real interests the Democrats are dead in South Carolina.
re: 80% seems very high until you think that blacks vote 93% democrat.
And 95% of Black voted for Obama in the 2008 election.
The same thing happened to my generation back when Jimmy Carter was president, only the level of debt was much, much less.
Have you seen “You Tube” recently? I’m pleasantly surprised and shocked about the numbers of young/younger people who are really rapping on Obama and some in Congress! Some of them are really harsh; even harsher than we are on “Free Republic”! They might not like G. Beck, S. Palin, or R. Limbaugh, or some didn’t like GWBush, etc.. But they can’t stand Obama and many Congressional leaders either!
Now young military people account for a lot of that. However, there are a number of non-military who don’t like him/Congressional leaders either. Some of that may be because they feel he’s not liberal enough. There are many on DU in that category also.
There are a number of them that feel he/Congress. ldrs. are going too far to left! They are probably socially liberal for the most part. But some may be financial or political conservatives or libertarians. Although the language and the way they express themselves gets pretty grungy and nasty, it is really funny sometimes in spite of that! Still it’s really heartening to see many of them ‘get it’ at least.
Thank you very much!
