Basically, the NRA endorses yet another Democrat Ted Strickland in this election cycle over a conservative pro-gun Republican candidate John Kasich.

NRA lobbyist John Hohenwarter made the announcement endorsing Strickland.

Then there are threats from the Democrats to Kasich, “knows southern Ohio is not safe for him.”

In reaction to the endorsement, the Ohio Republican Party has begun highlighting the inconsistencies of Strickland’s voting record on gun laws.

So when you have two candidates who have mixed voting records on gun control, you endorse the Democrat.

John Hohenwarter, Ohio liaison for the NRA, joined the crowd.

“I’m here today to do a little stumping for our Governor, Ted Strickland,” Hohenwarter said. “Ted has been 100 percent NRA throughout his career in Washington and brought what he did in Washington back to Columbus. He is what we want and who we want in Columbus helping represent our issues.”

Here is text from Kasich spelling out the NRA’s supreme reasoning behind supporting Strickland.

“Although Ted Strickland has been endorsed by the NRA simply because he himself has never voted for any anti-gun legislation, I would like to point out who he has surrounded himself with and supports on the Democrat ticket.

Richard Cordray, candidate for Ohio Attorney General, argued for the Brady Bill in the U. S. Supreme Court.

“I never met a gun control bill I didn’t like.” Lee Fisher, Strickland’s current Lt. Gov. and candidate for U.S. Senate, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, 4/30/10

“Lee Fisher is one of Ohio’s great leaders. He’s a man of deep integrity and keen judgment.” Ted Strickland as quoted on the Fisher for Ohio Campaign website.

“The governor and I do not agree completely on his stand on guns.” Yvette McGee Brown, Strickland’s running mate for Lt. Gov., The Columbus Dispatch, 1/20/10

“Throughout her life, Yvette has answered the call of public service. I am grateful she has done so once again.” Ted Strickland, The Columbus Government Examiner, 1/19/10

Eric Fingerhut - former president of The Handgun Control Federation of Ohio; former Ohio Senator who led the fight against Concealed Carry. Appointed Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor by Ted Strickland

“I trust Eric hugely to carry out the goals we have jointly established.” Ted Strickland, The Columbus Dispatch, 3/6/08

And finally, “I’m consistently on record and will continue to be on record as opposing Concealed Carry.” Barack Obama, The Chicago Tribune, 4/27/04

“If you are a hunter or a gun owner, you have nothing to fear from Barack Obama.” Ted Strickland, The Columbus Dispatch, 10/10/08

The company you keep says a lot about who you REALLY are.

Kasich is not pro gun. He voted for the AWB when he was a Congresscritter. The NRA has this one right.

I am an long-time NRA member who just received the renewal notice and returned it with a “loud” notation that they have lost me as a member. In place of NRA I became a member of Gun Owners of America and suggest others do as well.

I agree with the NRA on this. The R candidate voted for the AWB. No way would I support the NRA endorsing him. Trickland is very pro 2 amendment. And the NRA always supports an incumbent pro candidate. The build a bipartision coalation this way. This is good politics. The NRA is a 2nd amendment organization not a R or D supporter.

Really?

Ted Strickland’s picked the founder of Handgun Control, Inc., Lee Fisher as his running mate.

Strickland quote from 1976: “I personally do not like guns and I do not own a gun.” [Editorial by Martin Gottlieb, Dayton Daily News, 5/17/06]

Kasich is the disgrace. He stabbed the 2nd Amendment in the back. Now he wants to show how profreedom he is. It really sucks the voters of Ohio don’t have a better choice than Kasich.

And its really sad that Freepers have such short memories.

“And its really sad that Freepers have such short memories.”

I am sorry, did John Kaisch chose the founder of Handgun Control, Inc as his running mate or was it Strickland.

That should give you a pretty good indication where he is heading while Kaisch has apologized for his vote.

Strickland appoints and helps elect anti-gun Democrats, how is this a good endorsement?

I hope the NRA loses all of its members.
