In 1997, one of Bill Clinton's Cabinet members suggested that Shelton order a US plane to fly low over Baghdad so Saddam would shoot it down and, ta da, give America instant justification for war. "I was so mad I was about to explode," recounts Shelton, thinking about the sacrificial pilot.
Why, of course we can, he responded. "Just as soon as we get your ass qualified to fly it, I will have it flown just as low and slow as you want to go. The memoir doesn't name the Cabinet member, but Elliott notes that the way the passage is written leaves Madeleine Albright as a distinct possibility.

Interesting.
“Ill always remember the time Kim thought Half-bright was the cleaning lady. Classic.”
I don’t know about that but, according to Half-Bright, he liked her boobs. IIRC, the way her story goes is that she told him she needed a place for her pins to rest.
Not that I don’t believe that was a total fabrication on her part...
Disgusting. And believable.
Iraq has been a dobale since we ended WWII, no guts have been in office willing to do it
bump
Cold War "velly profitable 'renture".
Peace is only profitable for peasants.
Actually, I don't think you will...since it was the Albanians, not Kim. :-)
The Albanians were the muslim allies (KLA) of AB, since she was of Albanian descent.
Not until he assumed the Presidency after Clinton's term expired. Until then Clinton could do no wrong no matter how many innocent Serbs he ordered killed to save his buddies in the KLA — mostly Al Quaida operatives working out of the criminal enterprise called Albania - former Nazi allies with their own local SS battalions.
The timing isn’t specific, but it sounds as if this occurred before Lewinsky scandal blew up in January 1998 (although Jones lawyers named Lewinsky as a potential witness in the Paula Jones case on December 5, so it may have been clear that it was only a matter of time before the affair became public). http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/timeline.htm
The request was despicable in any case, but would have been doubly so were the motivation to create a diversion away from a political scandal. I always viewed the December 1998 bombings as a transparent ploy to influence the outcome of the impeachment proceedings (bombings occurred Dec. 16-18: House impeached Clinton on December 19).
I'd have turned for Mecca and blasted the %^*$&^ out of that stupid black stone they worship. At the same time various media outlets would be receiving pre-arranged communications explaining the nature and purpose of the original orders. Then I would have landed and laughed in their faces "So what are you going to do about me now?"
It's probably a good thing I was never in the military.
lol
I don't have any photo-shop software. Sounds like a fun project to paste her ugly mug on some poor cleaning lady's picture.
When asked by "60 Minutes" if she thought that the death of half a million Iraqi children because of the economic sanctions (which btw failed to bring down the Saddam Hussein regime)was a price worth paying, Albright replied: "This is a very hard choice, but we think the price is worth it."
