Think you know Sarah Palin? The former Alaska governor has been in the spotlight ever since John McCain named her as his running mate on Aug. 29, 2008. Yet, while practically everybody has an opinion about Palin, not all of those opinions are grounded in reality. Many of them are based more on a "Saturday Night Live" caricature than on the living, breathing, 46-year-old mother of five. The real Sarah Palin is a complex woman who has risen in no time from obscurity to the stratosphere of American politics, fusing celebrity and populism in novel ways. Now that she's laying the foundation for a possible presidential run in 2012, it's worth taking a moment to separate the fact about Palin from the fable.

That is the jawline of a very beautiful, and determined, woman.
Washington Post is only just learning this factoid 2 years later.
No question about Sarah’s determination and good looks.
What I’m pleased to read is how good the article is. Realistic, sensible and even-handed are just three laurels I’d toss to the author. And it appears on the WashPost site. Maybe there’s hope for the MSM after all.
I love that jawline! She was born to shelter this country from disaster.
I’ve got to admit, I found that pretty fair and even-handed.

Just ask Jerry Ford what that can do to you...
Rut roh, WAPO starting to shine up Sarah. I wonder why? Its the WAPO, they will shine you just before they feed you a MACACA sandwich. Maybe this time, the pubbies should ignore WAPO and give interviews only to reputable and friendly media outlets. Maybe WAPO needs an intro into tomorrows movers and shakers. Who knows, I just find it suspicious that now WAPO wants to set the record straight on Sarah.
Lefties going nuts in the comment section! LOL!
Yeah, I had to look twice to be sure that it was "really" the WP. I suspect that the end result will be that the reporter(s) who wrote it will be fired. After all, WP can't have any employees who don't stick to the accepted party line.
Re: The Palin is unelectable myth.
Anytime I hear this, my only response is three words: Senator Al Franken. If that man can be elected, anyone can.
“I suspect that the end result will be that the reporter(s) who wrote it will be fired. After all, WP can’t have any employees who don’t stick to the accepted party line.”
They may be realizing that Mr. Sparky is no comeback kid. That leaves only the Carter template for two years. Not fun reporting. Given the house will be in conservative hands, the news will be investigations and budget show downs. WAPO needs to position some reporters that pubbies can open up to. Otherwise, they got the great access to Nancy and Sparky, but no one will want to read about that.
Boy, the comments in there make the weekly "DUmmie funnies" page here look almost rational. I haven't laughed so hard since reading the local letters to the editor last Sunday about who should be elected Senator of California in November!
The author wasn’t a WaPo reporter, but Matthew Continetti, opinion editor of the Weekly Standard. Still, it’s pretty amazing that they printed it!
With respect, it's interesting that whenever this reason/excuse for quitting gets brought up, it's never mentioned that she created/helped create those ethics laws which could be abused. Sooner or later, there will need to be some serious political analysis of her accomplishments, mistakes etc. by Conservatives...including, for example, her stance on man made global warming while Governor, support for a path to citizenship and apparent previous support of earmarks in Alaska such as the Gravina Island bridge. Heretofore, it's been taboo.
Some here will welcome the analysis, and others won't. Hopefully it won't get shouted down.
Has he not listened to Palin speak? Sarah's speeches are very Reaganesque in its positive language. All in all, however, a pretty good article.
“They’re real and they’re spectacular!”
Pissant hasn't learned it yet.
