FIRST LADY CAMPAIGNED INSIDE POLLING PLACE
Thu Oct 14 2010 16:19:25 ET
First lady Michelle Obama appears to have violated
Illinois law -- when she engaged in political discussion at a polling place!
The drama began after Mrs. Obama stopped off at the
Martin Luther King Center on the south side of Chicago to cast an early vote.
After finishing at the machine, Obama went back to the desk and handed in her voting key.
She let voters including electrician Dennis Campbell, 56, take some photos.
"She was telling me how important it was to vote to keep her husband's agenda going," Campbell said.
According to the pool reporter at the scene, the conversation took place IN the voting center not far from the booths.
Illinois state law -- Sec. 17-29 (a) -- states: "No judge of election, pollwatcher, or other person shall, at any primary or election, do any electioneering or soliciting of votes or engage in any political discussion within any polling place, within 100 feet of any polling place."
A top Ilinois State Board of Elections official tells the DRUDGE REPORT how Mrs. Obama may have simply been ignorant of the law and thus violated it unintentionally.
"You kind of have to drop the standard for the first lady, right?" the official explained late Thursday. "I mean, she's prety well liked and probably doesn't know what she's doing."
WHITE HOUSE DEFENDS ELECTIONEERING
When questioned about the brazen nature of Mrs. Obama's campaigning, press secretary Robert Gibbs defended the action.
"I don't think it would be much to imagine, the First Lady might support her husband's agenda," Gibbs smiled.

Quite right. It was playing in my head, but it’s been a while since I last saw the show. Dragnet.
Dumb de dumb dumb.
What I mean is, Obama sent her out to get votes for congress, and I don’t think this was the way to do it.
Dumb de dumb dumb.
Wasn’t she a lawyer?
Yeah, but didn't Michelle go to law school? So there's no excuse. She knew what she was doing.
So MO is a lawyer unfamiliar with the law? Mr. Fibbs - you lie!
Yeah, but she’s a lawyer, or at least WAS a lawyer. She went to law school. She had to know what she was doing was illegal.

and she also stopped off for a burger and fries .
What a fraud this woman is.
People were taking photo’s, not allowed in a voting place.
she is telling people to vote for their agenda, not allowed.
Maybe she thought if she wore those ugly clothes it would take the attention away from her breaking the law.
” Last I checked this is against the law!!!”
Michelle surrendered her law lic. 2 weeks before a revocation hearing.
Please. Laws are only for the little people.
so you choose to believe one story versus another, in the Drudge story you have a quote from a person in the voting area as well as the poll reporter.
and yet you choose to believe she didn’t do this
why?
Methinks you mean "flouting" the law. You know, as in, "Michelle Obama, the FLOUTUS"
Yes, we all must bow to the First Wookie. Give me a freakin' break!
There’s a million of them. My dad was an election judge for precinct where the seal on the voting booths were broken. He reported, his life was threatened, and the judge gave the precinct captain a slap on the wrist. It’s not the law breaking that makes a city like Chicago unique, it’s the judicial system that will not do anything about it.
Chicago Board of Elections is already saying that FL may have been ‘ignorant’ of the law! BS! Ignorance of the law-my 13 year old knows that’s not an excuse. And she hasn’t gone to Yale or Harvard.
It is a big story but she’ll never be prosecuted and even if she was her husband would pardon her.
But then, jackasses don't have the sense God gave a goose.
