NEWTON, Mass. Rep. Barney Frank faced his Republican challenger Monday night in their only televised debate. It was the first chance for the challenger, Marine reservist Sean Bielat, to show he could survive going on television against the congressman famous for his way with words.
Democrat Frank came armed with his usual wit. For instance, he dismissed New York Republican candidate for governor Carl Paladino as a horses behind for saying that children are being brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option.
That guy running in New York, I guess his name is Paladino. Frankly, when I heard it at first, I thought it was Palomino, and only part of whom was talking, Frank said.
Bielat is giving Frank the hardest race hes faced since 1982. The 35-year-old first-time candidate gave up his full-time job as an executive at iRobot to run this race. He says his campaign has been boosted by hundreds of thousands of dollars pouring in in small donations from across the country.
Monday nights debate, moderated by NECNs Jim Braude, was Bielats only chance to show a TV audience that he could stand up to Franks debating skills.
The recent Wharton MBA found out that going up against the wit of Frank is hard. This became evident when, at one point, Bielat said he would have opposed bailing out General Motors and Chrysler.
I would have let them go, Bielat said.
How about that, Barney Frank? Braude asked.
There are a lot of people who agree with Sean Bielat. A lot of people agree with everybody. A lot of people think Elvis is still alive, too, Frank replied.

Only somebody who thought a palomino was running for Governor of New York would think this is skillful debating. But then, one expects Barney to have a lot of familiatiry with behinds, of whatever kind.
Just when I thought that yesterday’s thread entitled “Can Bielat beat Barney?” was an unfortunate choice of words, this gets posted.
How come Ann Coulter never gets to moderate a candidate debate anywhere?
Because that would be like the Lefties coming to a gunfight armed with a toothpick.
I thought Barney only debated dining room tables?

The headline is pretty inviting for sarcastic comments but I’ll pass...
Even the skinny ones never seem to be too happy.
Which is odd since they call themselves "gay". Go figure.
There are a lot of people who agree with Sean Bielat. A lot of people agree with everybody. A lot of people think Elvis is still alive, too, Frank replied.
Shouldn’t it be “Dere a wot of pweople who agwee wiff Sean Bielat. A wot of pweople agwee wiff evwebody. A wot of pweople tink Elvis is stwill awive, too,” Frank replied.
Hey! How about a little sensitivity here, huh?
I believe the socially acceptable term is "gravitationally challenged".
Frank is such a corrutp a$$ himself, it makes him an authority on all things a$$. Starting with “How to be an a$$ and rip off your constituents,” and going on from there.
Barney Frank’s wit is an urban legend.
He is coarse, crude, crass and criminal.....but what do I know?
For starters: Elvis is dead.
You are so right, but he usually has that look on his face like you can’t touch me my seat is safe..This will make me want to throw a party when he is gone..I know he will fight for ever last vote and keep the thing going as long as he can..I think the only thing that will save him is if his moron boss Obama sent in the Black Panthers like he did in Pa.. and if he does I hope the people there are ready to fight the filthy bastards..
LOL!!
I think it’s very telling that Bielat is getting donations from all over the country to help defeat Bwarney. This is evidence of how much Bwarney is hated, and also evidence that people everywhere are now awake to the fact that Bwarney’s power and policies are bringing this country down.
and yet he is a known master debater ...
He and Dodd need to be arrested, tried and if found guilty, executed for the damage they inflicted on this country. Would be interesting if someone could trace the monies I suspect they have spirited out of the country.
They, more than anyone in the Senate, helped turn this coutnry into a third world nation.
Interesting off topic aside. Daddy Cuomo's most trusted and closest confidante for his entire career, and a guy who is still called on by Cuomo fils is a Brooklyn lawyer named Fabian Palomino. He is known as a lawyer who walks the picket fence between legal and illegal with great desterity.
Better than letting Barney hold it.
