Why Should You Own A Gun? [Lib whiner]

The Machine Gun Shoot Competition happened at the Knob Creek Gun Range in Kentucky this weekend in which hundreds of machine gun dealers, owners and enthusiasts showed up to fire four rounds at random appliances and vehicles.

The Knob Creek Gun Range websites describes this event with similar giddiness and rhetoric of a 13-year-old at a “Return of the King” premiere, stating:

“..The charges are set off by the impact of the bullets. Creating large and small mushroom clouds and fire balls from hell!”

It’s true. Astute men, women and judging from the FAQ sheet on their website inquiring what kind of gun to buy a child, even children, gather to shoot at and explode various objects to: Prove a point of freedom? To ascertain the redneck’s dominance over inconspicuous home appliances? To scare away Tom Robinson?

Whatever the reason, it didn’t seem that the Machine Gun Competition was enough to settle the burdening desire, rather, God given right, no, necessity, to shoot at and blow stuff up. So naturally there was also an Assault Rifle Competition, Old Military Bolt Rifle Competition, K.C.R Shotgun Competition, K.C.R Practical Pistol Competition and the regular old Military Gun Show.

To further christen the event, Rand Paul showed up and called out Obama for trying to take away gun owners’ divine rights:

“The president says that you’re out here in the middle of the country clinging to your guns and ammunition. What I tell the President is, ‘We’re clinging to our guns, our religions and our ammunition.’”

Of course you are, what with these damn liberals running around demanding civil rights, equal opportunity and same sex marriage we need some level-headed people with the machine capability to mow down anyone that stands in their way of having rights.

“so then, it stands to reason that an ‘indirect’ method of firearm confiscation may be effected by making large groups of people felons....”

Push a man to the point where he has nothing left to lose at your own peril.

It isn’t really worth the effort to try to reason with this condescending moron, but I can think of quite a few reasons, one of which is so that a 110-pound woman can send a 300-lb rapist to hell without ruining her nail polish. That strikes me as highly civilized, frankly, and I’d love to hear the author’s argument to the contrary.

This FReeper isn’t going to announce on the internet whether she owns a gun or not. Keep ‘em guessing!

Given the [quite possible] government-backed extortion of the American people the question MUST be asked: is defending oneself from [such] extortion with deadly violence a crime? [Murder? Sedition? Treason? “Disturbing the Peace?”]

i believe that the percentage of those who insist that the ballot box will suffice is still skewed for a few reasons...not the least is simply stayin 'small' in open discussions...

then theres alot of folks who just cant visualize their life being turned upside down in the reality of war in our own backyards...

then theres the whole 'thou shalt not murder' command, combined with the civilized upbringing to respect the man made 'law' as well...

for me, i dont have faith in politicians even if the election is fair, Ive already made peace with the fact that this life in 'the world' is not my ultimate destination, and self defence is 'justification' for killing...

everything that is decreed on us is at the end of a gun, bar none...since President Washington is being quoted, my tag fits right in with this thread...

I don't own a gun. I own guns.

It is said that Texans own over 2 guns for every man, woman and child in the State. I do not think that is overstated. And collectively about 20% of all privately held weapons. (and final assembly of all the nukes)

What we need in this country is “Brain Control” to keep morons like this one from getting anywhere near pen and paper and boring the rest of us sensible folks to death with this drivel..

I seem to recall reading that when you wrote it. And IIRC, I went ‘Yessss!’ when I read it then. This time I just nodded in agreement and asked the empty room, ‘So when are We The People gonna build the needed guillotines?’

There’s a great video at Youtube done by a 5’4” petite well shaoed 28 year old gal who loves her air-weight revolver. She gives instruction to fellow females on how to carry concealed, introducing several holster options. I just love that video. Wish I had a gal like that one, maybe a little older though.

Oops, sorry.

Didn't mean to FReep-pimp.

I think tar and feathers would be better than guillotines.

Some of the bureaucrats have let their job go to their heads.

Cheers!

I was watchin’ the football game on the couch with my old cats sleeping nearby. When that commercial came on I laughed so loud the cats moved to another room!

Well, I could bum you out more by pointing out that, despite the recent "good decisions," the Supreme Court has made it is [IMO] by far the most tyrannical and lawless of the three branches. What other branch has set itself as the god-king of the Constitution? (The other branches simply ignore the Constitution.) They are a Super-Legislature able to pull into existence new law (Roe v. Wade, anyone?), they can amend the Constitution at will (i.e. the declaration that the prohibition against Ex Post Facto Law applies to only criminal law; or the Keelo v. New England decision wherein they eliminated both the requirement for just compensation and the requirement that the usage be for the public in the exercise of eminent domain).

Yes, we must all bow down before the Great Robed Priests or they shall smite us with the many souls they have caused to be sacrificed to Molech! [/sarc]

Depending on the USSC for sound Constitutional Understating is a lot like depending on this song [What Would Jesus Do?] for sound Theological Understanding.

Author of article, and former Fox News intern, Colleen Stufflebeem. Obviously second tier and not qualified to move up into the big leagues with the FNN. Now stuck writing for second rate blogs and third rate "web only" news rags. Small town girl moves to the big city and becomes... just another over-educated, under-achieving small town girl who moved to the big city.

>>Why don’t they offer firearms training in high schools? Or, do they?

My dad taught H.S. Jr. R.O.T.C. in the late 70s. They had a .22 range in the school, shot the NRA 50’ juniors .22 program. The one where the 10-ring is about the diameter of a .22 round.

How things change in 30 years.
