She died because the taliban took her hostage. If they had not done that then no harm would have been done to her.

2) The woman should not have been in a theater of war.
3) Aid work ina theater of war carries with it a substantial risk of death.
4) This woman knew the risk, and so did her superiors, or they should have known.
5) The only aid that can be delivered in a theater of war is delivered by the US Marines. They kill anyone who gets in the way of it.That means the aid gets to those who need it, not into the hands of the enemy, or crooked politicians, embezzlers.

What the hell is this ? This revolves around our stupid ROE (rules of engagement). The woman was killed in an attempt to rescue her. It’s unfortunate but that sometimes happens so now what do they want to do ? Courts martuial one of the resucers, some poor GI who may have misinterpreted a movement by the enemy and responded during a military action.
Even the best laid plans go out the window quickly in this type of rescue effort.
Besides that, if this were a carter effort we would already be apologizing to the taliban and begging them to be nice.
Which implies that they may not have.
So why even report this until they facts are conclusive? Unless the objective is to make the military look inept.
