Is Obama's Position on Religious Freedom: Mosque, Yes; Cross, No?
The American Thinker ^ | October 10, 2010 | Margaret Calhoun Hemenway

It would be unimaginable for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to pursue the removal of thousands of crosses in Arlington National Cemetery situated so near the seat of the federal government in the nation's capital, and where so many of America's veterans and honored heroes are laid to rest. Likewise, it would be seemingly unthinkable for the ACLU to try to sue to eliminate the Senate and House chaplains (both of whom are of the Christian faith) who, in accordance with longstanding tradition, open with a prayer the upper and lower chambers each day that Congress is in session.

But like the predatory wolf that searches for the lamb at the outskirts of the flock, the ACLU targeted a lone cross -- a war memorial -- in California's Mojave Desert, off a desolate highway, perhaps believing it to be an easy target for removal. The ACLU was mistaken. For ten years, a battle has been waged to preserve this solitary Latin cross, first erected in 1934 to honor World War I veterans. In fact, the Mojave Desert War Memorial is our nation's sole congressionally-designated World War I memorial.

A former National Park Service (NPS) official (who now lives in the State of Oregon) objected to the cross memorial and enlisted the ACLU to sue to remove it. The justification was the ACLU's flawed premise that the Establishment clause of the Constitution prohibits religious symbols on public property. The Establishment clause was meant only to protect against the creation of a state religion, such as the Church of England; but freedom of religion and free religious exercise were among the main reasons early settlers came to America -- and thus the protection of those freedoms is enshrined in the First Amendment.

The ACLU is, and always has been a Communist front organization, and therefor atheist.
They will use Islam only as a wedge to destroy
Christianity. They will later turn to destroying Islam
in America, as it is a religion.

Well yes, but he is a Marxist first and a Muslim second.

You can’t beat in court people who will crawl like bugs in the night into your home and cut your children’s throats for Allah.

absolutely correct-I add only my concern that once the left
alllows Islam the edge— they will themselves have the difficulty controlling the beast that the soviets have had.

Actually, Hussein is a left-wing anti-colonialist socialist, not a Muslim, though he has warm feelings for them.

We hear from almost everyone (except the "American Thinker") that the Muslims have the right to build the mosque.

Why is it the Muslims have the right to build the mosque, but the Greek Orthodox do not have the right to rebuild their St. Peter's Church which was destroyed on 9/11?

I remember the trouble a Lubavatchir type Chasid place had with the zoning board when they wanted to establish a prayer center in Newton, Massachusetts, I believe. Along with the St. Peter's Church already built at ground zero, where were those Chasids rights? I don't need this self riteous scheiss unsine from Pres. Hussein or the other defenders of the ground zero, triumphal mosque.

I disagree. I think he's actually a Muslim but a Muslim along the lines of Saddam Hussein -- a socialist, dictatorship-first Muslim.

The only difference is that Barak Hussein must hide is worship, which he's allowed to do under the rules of his sick, perverted religion.

There will come a day when the members of the ACLU will face the Living God and give account for their actions. I would not want to be in their shoes.

Granted that the ACLU is a godless organization that SPECIFICALLY hates Christianity, but their history of organizing and using the court to get their evil way is not going to work with Islam. Islam is like the mafia! Once you are in, you can't get out, and you can't talk bad about them, or they would cut your head off. Islam, a minority cult in this country needs to be treated with mafia type behavior. Simply covertly harm the loud mouth type, and there will be no loud mouth.

They hate the cross because of all it represents. They do the Devil's bidding. Why else would they have such an irrational hatred for this humble symbol?

1 Corinthians 1:18-20

18"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?"

Well, in one of his books, he said that he shared his mother Stanley Ann’s skepticism about religion. Also, in a interview, he admitted telling one of his daughters that he didn’t know what happened after death. IMO, a real Muslim would say that he believed in Paradise or Heaven. Remember for much of his life, he hung around with Communists and other Radical Leftists, like Frank Marshall Davis and Bill Ayers, and they tend to be atheists or at least non-religious.
