(Oct. 9) -- A British aid worker kidnapped in Afghanistan last month was killed by her Taliban captors during a NATO commando raid to rescue her.
Linda Norgrove, 36, had spent years working for charities and development projects in Afghanistan, and was on an American project in eastern Kunar province when her convoy was ambushed on Sept. 26. Police fought a gunbattle with the kidnappers before they escaped with Norgrove and three of her Afghan colleagues.
The Afghan men were later released unharmed, but Norgrove was held hostage for nearly two weeks before NATO forces decided to try to rescue her in a secret raid Friday night. Kidnapped Aid Worker Killed in Afghan Rescue Attempt UK Foreign Office / AP Aid worker Linda Norgrove was killed Friday night during an attempt to free her from Taliban militants, who kidnapped her on Sept. 26.
"Working with our allies we received information about where Linda was being held and we decided that, given the danger she was facing, her best chance of safe release was to act on that information," British Foreign Secretary William Hague said in a statement today, confirming her death.
The statement said Norgrove "was killed at the hands of her captors in the course of a rescue attempt last night," according to Bloomberg News. Hague expressed "deep sadness" at the news.

Well, let’s see if the simpering British poodle, formerly known in Churchill’s time as “the British Lion,” can muster up a modicum of irritation or affrontry to kill a few Taliban pigs for revenge.
I seriously doubt it. The whimpering poodle Brits are more concerned about making the sand rat goat humpers comfortable taking over Britian.
From the source:
" . . . the rescue team was closing in on the property where Ms Norgrove was being held when her captors threw a grenade into the room where she was kept, killing her.
"Allied troops then opened fire, killing all of the militants in the property."
Of course it’s possible as an act of hate and power... but the younger the better—esp. the boys.
But they are only from a different culture and we need to be respectful of all cultures. All cultures are great in their own ways.

GOOD!! VAPORIZE ALL THESE BEASTS!
God, rest her soul in His peaceful Heaven.
I do believe the article said she was kidnapped two WEEKS ago...
Carpet bomb the basta^ds. The entire country.
A better question might be, when will the muzzies enter the second millenium.
“We are fighting and idea. A powerful idea. We cannot win without extinguishing that idea.”

PC warfare is what you are experiencing. Ain’t it grand?
I hope that the murderous cowards were trembling in fear for those two weeks, worrying about whether the SAS would get them, would SEALS get ‘em, would it be GROM (polish special forces), or maybe Marines. Could it be Rangers sneaking up on them????I hope they didn’t sleep at all and that they froze in terror when the rescuers showed up because they’ve heard what the Aussies and Brits and Americans and Polish and other Allied forces do to people like THAT.
It’s important that they were cut down, as usual, so that the next piece of garbage who helps kidnap an innocent aid worker understands what all the other dead captors understand - heroes will be showing up soon. I’m not making light of the loss of this woman’s death - I am just so angry I am taking a moment to hope that her killers worried about how it would feel when justice caught up to them. Hope the fear inside wondering just how they would die consumed their last days. (i.e. ‘sleep tight you monsters - commandos are comin’ to meet ya’)
In answer to numerous questions earlier in the thread:-
- The operation was carried out by unspecified US Special Forces. Respect to them for a difficult and dangerous job.
- All eight captors at the compound were killed in the operation.
- Norwood got her fatal wounds when one of the captors set off a suicide vest as forces closed in. Very difficult to imagine what even the best trained forces in the world could have done better, given a captor standing next to her who just has to pull a cord.
- She apparently survived the blast for a short while, but died on the way to hospital.
- The decision for a ‘go’ for the operation was given when it seemed likely she was about to transferred to Al Queida in Pakistan
(all above sourced from UK Press)
Respect to all forces involved. It must be terrible for the young men involved that the operation did not go to plan - however, they did their duty bravely, took out eight bad guys, and at least gave Norwood a chance - had she gone to Pakistan there would have been no chance.
Respect and sympathy to Norwood’s family. It takes a better soul than mine to go and do selfless Charity work and the ‘hearts and minds’ stuff of the battle unarmed. If only all of humanity had in their hearts what she had in hers.
Well said.
Any survivors would soon be replenished by the trickling-in of new Taliban from Pakistan madrasahs.
The bombs strapped to their chest.
“I understand it was US Special Forces, also from the radio.”
I think that you’re right about that, although it does seem as though they were working in conjunction with the British. Subsequent to my post to you, I read this article-
I feel very bad for her family. She was just trying to do some good, but sometimes and in some places it’s just hard to see how it’s worth it.
A lot of people seem to have come to that conclusion in the last couple of years. And you are quite correct on that last. Can’t be seen as being multiculturally intolerant and all.
Well said.
We can figure them out ... NOW never opposes anyone who might bite back.
They attack with impunity in the West because they have PCed and PWed all opposition.
Good deeds do not go unpunished.
