(Oct. 9) -- A British aid worker kidnapped in Afghanistan last month was killed by her Taliban captors during a NATO commando raid to rescue her.
Linda Norgrove, 36, had spent years working for charities and development projects in Afghanistan, and was on an American project in eastern Kunar province when her convoy was ambushed on Sept. 26. Police fought a gunbattle with the kidnappers before they escaped with Norgrove and three of her Afghan colleagues.
The Afghan men were later released unharmed, but Norgrove was held hostage for nearly two weeks before NATO forces decided to try to rescue her in a secret raid Friday night. "Working with our allies we received information about where Linda was being held and we decided that, given the danger she was facing, her best chance of safe release was to act on that information," British Foreign Secretary William Hague said in a statement today, confirming her death.
The statement said Norgrove "was killed at the hands of her captors in the course of a rescue attempt last night," according to Bloomberg News. Hague expressed "deep sadness" at the news.

Throw in Gaza, Haiti, etc and I just can’t see what makes them tick.
I have several friends who are or were "aid" workers in Afghanistan...
Also, others in Uganda, Yemen, Zaire, etc.
As our Boss said, "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you..."
I hope to learn that every one of her “captors” was terminated.... won’t help her but such vermin should not be taken alive.

I heard on the radio that 8 of her captors were killed. In that sense, she certainly did not die in vain.
I understand it was US Special Forces, also from the radio.
The reporter said reports were that she (and the 8 sacks of trash) were killed when one of the sacks of trash threw a grenade in the room where she was being held.
Poor thing. She was obviously very well meaning, but the problem is that there is no helping these people. Muslims are insane; even when they accept your help and don't kill you, it's only because they don't have the ability to do so at that particular moment. But as soon as they do, they will kill you.
We are fighting and idea. A powerful idea. We cannot win without extinguishing that idea.
That is the truth no one in Washington has the balls to say.
They released their moslem brothers & kept her as bounty.

“Aid” in a theater of war is a lot of baloney.Its just feel good liberal politics perpetrated by idiots who think war needs a simultaneous assuaging of liberal “guilt.”
The only genuine aid force in the world tody are the US Marines. You want a thousand tons of food delivered to starving peiple? Send it with them. When tne crooks try to steal the aid or take the cash from those who are dispensing it, the US Marines kill them.
All of the aid then gets to who it should.
Its the only true aid there is in a theater of war, but the US Marines should not be used that way. If there is going to be “Aid” it has to be delivered by an armned force ready to kill those who wish to usurp, steal , embezzle or convert the aid.
“Aid’ workers are a standing joke in a theater of war, and a poor joke at that.
Having said that , I am deeply sorry that this lady lost her life.”Aid” has no place in a theater of war. Her death is partly the fault of those NATO authorities who do not understand this basic fact.
This lady’s death is partly a result of fatally flawed liberal ideology.Her murderers should be hunted down and executed, not arrested and tried.
