National GOP takes aim at Tim Walz(D-Mn)

Republican congressional candidate Randy Demmer unveiled his first TV ad as national Republicans announced plans to sink big money into the race in hopes of knocking off Democrat Tim Walz.

The National Republican Congressional Committee is spending $85,000 on the TV ads through its coordinating campaign funds. The NRCC's independent expenditure arm also plans to pump another $102,000 into campaign ads in the 1st Congressional District starting today.

Meanwhile, Walz's campaign has sent an e-mail asking supporters to raise $100,000 to counter GOP ads.

Demmer's first ad blasts Walz for voting in favor of the stimulus bill, health care reform and cap-and-trade legislation. The ad, called "Our Side," highlights Walz's votes on those bills and flashes to a photograph of the U.S. Capitol surrounded by creepy photos of President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Walz as lightning flashes in the background. The narrator says, "There's a real mess in Washington, and Tim Walz voted for it all. We need a representative on our side. The ad switches to an image of Demmer in blue jeans and a sweatshirt talking to farmers. The narrator says, "Randy Demmer. Family man. Farmer. Small business owner. Randy Demmer will reign in spending and protect Minnesota jobs."

Walz's campaign has struck back with its e-mail.

"National Republicans are not coming after Tim Walz because they believe he is vulnerable, they are coming after Tim because he is strong. While Tim has focused on solutions that will improve people's lives, the NRCC leaders have chosen to help Randy Demmer because they know he will be a reliable vote for Wall Street and health insurance companies," wrote Walz campaign manager Richard Carlbom.

Demmer campaign manager Jason Flohrs said that Demmer's first ad brings attention to votes Walz has taken that hurt residents of the district.

"Walz cast real votes to put the federal government in charge of health care, spent billions trying to create jobs that never materialized, and supported a cap and trade energy tax that would cost each Minnesota farmer and family hundreds to thousands of dollars each year," he said in a written statement.

Walz's campaign communications director Sara Severs issued the following statement in reaction to Demmer's ad:

"The differences between Tim and Representative Demmer could not be clearer. Tim Walz is fighting for the middle class. Representative Demmer is fighting for tax breaks for millionaires. Tim Walz wants to move our country forward. Representative Demmer wants to take us back to the failed policies of the past."

Walz has poor judgement and his own words show it.

Statement from Walz’s(D-Mn) Congressional Office

http://www.bluestemprairie.com/a_bluestem_prairie/2009/01/walz-votes-for-stimulus-bill.html

This legislation will create and save 3 to 4 million jobs, rebuilding America, making us more globally competitive and energy independent, and transforming our economy for long-term growth; give 95% of American workers an immediate tax cut; and invest quickly in the economy – with 75% spent in the first 18 months.

What’s exciting is that southern Minnesotans can benefit greatly from this strategy. Experts say more than 90 percent of the jobs created will be in the private sector.” added Walz.

Double that '3 to 4 million jobs', for the jobs lose reality of it, and that's how far off Walz is. No Republican was dumb enough to vote for that Stimulus because it wasn't sound. Even the Keynesian theory was wrong, Government Stimulus was intended during a depression, not a recession. So why did Walz support such poor Stimulus? Bad judgement.

The Health sCare counter-intelligence of Walz, 'they' being the folks who were right, knowing cost was going up;

Rep. Tim Walz, D-Minn., “...They just didn’t understand how we could save money on this by adding more people to the system...”

Yep, unfortunately some Republican thinking is too kind to their opponents, and in this case it’s like I’m watching the McCain campaign all over again, the obvious desperation at the end when Joe duh! Plumber stumbled upon the economic argument that McCain should have been using all along whether it was Hillary or Obama.

Like the Stimulus bill, most on our side easily predicted it was a waste, and when compared to the 2 years after the Bush tax cuts, the economic result is something Democrats only dream they could get. Like Health care, terrible legislation.

Everyone please give $20 or whatever you can to defeat Tim Walz, who is a Pelosi handmaiden and rubber stamp. The GOP held this seat from 1994-2006 (Gil Gutknecht). Walz only got elected because Iraq was a mess in 2006.

Please help Randy Demmer!

Demmer must have some good internal polling. InterCept Point will release their new chart today; however, the one they had last week showed MN-1 (Walz) as Likely D. Though their chart from last week does show Rothenberg changing from Safe D to Likely D last week. Sabato still shows the seat as Likely D. Would be great if Demmer won.

Iraq being another point Walz was wrong about. Saddam shotting at our Pilots in the UN ‘no fly zone’ was an act of war for 8 years under Clinton. And we’re still in Iraq. Walz has done nothing while Obama dithers in Afghanistan either.

I would just put LIAR ads out everywhere. Show pictures of RATS deserting a sinking ship with the words Obma Administration on the side.

That statement because it fits what Demmer needs to do, talk about how the economy really works, versus how Democrats tear down the economy while using meaningless rhetoric like “move our country forward”

And a mighty big thanks you for bringing a list of Patriots to this a few other things I’ve posted previously. I’ve learned a lot from all of you too. And of course, joining you all in saving our country with truth and fact will be the big payoff.

Going to add another interesting tidbit;

http://www.dglobe.com/event/article/id/41573/

Eric Cantor’s You Cut (republicanwhip.house.gov/you cut) is an instrumental website that enables every American a vote on one of five bills to be brought to the House of Representatives floor for weekly votes in Washington. You can review the five bills, vote for the bill you’d like to see win, helping the Federal Government cut spending and balance our Federal Budget. You’ll be notified which bill won the vote.

Then click on Tim Walz’s name to see how he voted. There have been 11 bills voted on since May. Tim Walz has not voted once to cut federal spending — not once.

On week 10, the winning bill two weeks ago was brought up for a vote: “Require Collection of Unpaid Taxes from Federal Employees” (a savings of $1 billion). You guessed it, Tim Walz voted no. The current Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, is now considering raising taxes on American families and small businesses, many of which are already struggling to pay the bills. While she is talking about raising your taxes, over 97,000 government employees haven’t even bothered to pay theirs — owing almost $1 billion in unpaid taxes. Unions strongly support Tim Walz.

As you know, Tim Walz votes right in step with Nancy Pelosi. On his campaign trail, Walz claims to be a fiscal conservative, and uses scare tactics to gather votes. Now he asks us to listen to him while he refused to listen to us. Go to Eric Cantor’s You Cut and see Tim Walz’s exposed voting record.
