“but yesterday they supposedly threatened US searchers on OUR side of the lake.”

The US coast guard needs to be out there with the biggest craft reasonable to operate on that lake. Armed with .50 caliber machine guns. They should be supported by one or 2 Hellfire Predators.

It’s a complete outrage that this is allowed to occur. I would bash Obama here, but Bush, Clinton, and BushI were just as bad. You have to go beack to Reagan to find a president that would put the brakes on this.

“...all of Texas knows about the dangers that exist in all of our border towns.”

Absolutely.

Build the wall, put gun boats on the border lakes, put men on the ground, helicopters in the air and stop this madness.

Obama forgot to look south [Full transl. of main editorial]

Yesterday the United States announced a new record of deportations: 392 thousand 863 persons during 2010. Those are bad news for Mexico, not so much due to the number, but because no other action or characteristic distinguishes Obama’s administration from its predecessors on the issue of immigration.

Mexico, like the rest of the world, had high expectations placed on the first African-American president of the power to the North. Being the son of an alien, a man of simple origins and “progressive” ideals – by American standards – it was hoped that he would innovate and confront the neighboring nation’s old problems with new vigor.

As presidential candidate of the Democrat Party, Barack Obama offered a migratory reform in his first year in office. President Calderon was the first one to be received by then President Elect Obama. Expectations were renewed when the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, and then Obama himself visited this country in 2009 in response to Mexican complaints about his lack of involvement in the war against drugs. An unprecedented mea culpa! The government of the United States recognized for the first time its responsibility in the consumption of drugs and the traffic of weapons to the south. By 2010, the American drug czar announced a new social focus (read: effort) on the fight against narcotraffic, which again raised expectations in Mexico.

Up to now they have only been words.

Perhaps the only action of the Democrat in favor of the Mexicans in the United States was the legal onslaught against the Arizona SB1070 law, which criminalizes the undocumented. In defense of the President, it has to be said that the conservative current in the American Congress, including legislators from his own party, would never allow him a legalization of the undocumented, not even a partial one, as was the case with the failed “Dream Act” that aimed to legalize foreign students. Nor would he be allowed to relax the controls on the border with Mexico or to tolerate crossing without documents to the other side of the Bravo River (read: Rio Grande River) which represents a “crime” to the majority of Americans.

In any event, his administration in relation to Mexico must be considered a failure because our country was ignored, as was the rest of Latin America, in all bilateral issues and actions. The feeling remains that the President doesn’t have any idea of what to do with the countries to the south of its border. (ME: Since WHEN are we responsible for countries South of OUR border!?! Mad )
During decades, Latin America lamented about American interventionism. Today we know that the opposite extreme doesn’t help either.

Exactly. This should have happened immediately. The huge lake is going to melt down that body in one way or another so badly that an autopsy will be difficult to pinpoint what happened to the guy.

Who will be the first GOP woman politician to call for some show of power and muscle down on that accursed body of water?

Prensa Libre (Guatemala City, Guatemala) 10/6/10

Jorge Bustamante, a Mexican “UN special spokesman for immigrants’ human rights,” said that the “atmosphere of xenophobia” in various parts of the United States is bringing about abuses of immigrants, despite the suspension of parts of the Arizona law. “In the interim, situations are occurring derived from that ambience of xenophobia that predominates in the state of Arizona and in other parts of the United States, and which lead to vulnerable conditions for the immigrants and lead to abuses.” Bustamante labeled the law as “racist” because it gives the police the right to detain and expel persons “on the basis of their appearance, and the main appearance is the color of the skin.” He recalled that the approval of this law “constitutes a violation of what is established in the Constitution of the United States, which stipulates that immigration may only be legislated at the federal, not state, level.”

On the other hand, he defended the sovereign right of nations to decide about their immigration laws, and deemed that the concept of universal citizenship is practically impossible to bring about.

"The US should be taking over the whole lake and putting a secure border fence somewhere south of it."

EXACTLY!

In times past--only a few decades ago--the U.S. Government would have done exactly that, and the U.S. citizens would have demanded it.

This is how far the U.S. has descended into DECADENCE!

It is the Left that IS Decadence. The Left is the champion of Decadence.

The Decadence burst forth into the open as the Hippie Revolution of the 1960's. Its groupies waxed sublime as they gave it some sort of exaulted status, but it was nothing more than permissiveness, self-indulgence, and the rejection of responsibility run amuk among the spoiled, overindulged brats of the generation who prevailed over the Great Depression and World War II and thought they were giving their children the best that life can offer.

They could not know that what they were producing was a generation of nasty, spoiled, irresponsible brats, who rejected the values of their parents and grandparents and couldn't wait to get to Pleasure Island with the same results it produced in Pinnochio. (The jackass as the mascot of the Democrat Party could not be more appropriate, in this context among others).

The Hippie Revolution claimed high-minded values. Its real values were pleasure, self-indulgence, and irresponsibility.

Now those Hippies are running the U.S. The results are as disastrous as they were predictable.

I can't help wondering how the men--men? most of them were under the age of 21--who walked directly into machine gun fire on the beaches of Normandie would have felt if they had known what the next generation of Americans would be.

Decadence has the U.S. in a death grip. Irresponsible, self-indulgent and overindulged brats are responsible for it.

Come on people. If the thugs took his jet ski, wouldn’t they take his body too? They aren’t going to leave that for someone to find. IMO they will find nothing and try to say the girl is a liar. She is not.

A Fishing Paradise Gains a Deadly Reputation
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/08/us/08pirate.html?_r=2

[snips]

The shooting was the latest in a string of attacks by pirates on the lake that began on April 30. The gangs carry AK-47s and sometimes claim to be Mexican federal police or American game wardens. They have sometimes hijacked high-prowed boats favored by Mexican fishermen and used them to chase down Americans in bass boats, stealing their money at gunpoint.

But Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez of Zapata County, on the Texas side of the lake, has said that Mrs. Hartley’s story is credible and that the assault is in keeping with other recent robberies, some of which happened in the same part of the lake.

On April 30, for example, two boats carrying five tourists who wanted photographs of the Guerrero church were robbed at gunpoint by four heavily tattooed men in a fishing boat who identified themselves as “federales.” They demanded cash and even asked, “Where are the drugs?”

A week later, on May 6, three fishermen were robbed at gunpoint near Salado Island. On May 16, another group of boaters was robbed, again by armed men in a fishing boat on the United States side of the reservoir.

More recently, a gang of pirates in a small boat, with “Game Wardin” spelled out in duct tape, tried to stop a Texas fisherman, the police said. The Texan figured the misspelled word meant they were not really game wardens and outran them, the police said.

The governor has also staunchly defended Mrs. Hartley against anyone who doubts her account, saying he finds such theories “really reprehensible.”
