Why Christiane Amanpour Is Bombing on ABC's 'This Week' (Cause she's a she and a DC outsider)
Politics Daily ^ | October 1, 2010 | Luisita Lopez Torregrosa

Posted on 10/01/2010 4:07:00 AM PDT by Zakeet

Nine weeks since her hot launch as the host of one of the major Sunday political talk shows, Christiane Amanpour is tanking as the ratings for ABC's "This Week " have fallen dramatically to the point that the program occasionally drops to last place among the top three. "This Week," under hosts George Stephanopolous and Jake Tapper, at times hit No. 1, but usually held a strong second place in the Sunday morning talk show wars, after the perennial favorite, "Meet the Press" on NBC. But now "This Week" is winding up in third place more often than not on most Sundays. On Sunday, Sept. 19, for instance, the show not only plummeted to third place, behind "Meet the Press" and CBS's "Face the Nation," but received the lowest ratings in the 25-54 demographic in more than seven years.

Her going to ABC to anchor a prestige program was promoted for months. The hype made sense. Amanpour, as familiar a brand as there is in TV journalism, was leaving CNN and joining one of the media's most respected news programs. She was a woman, a journalist warrior, intrepid, fearless, and exotic. She was everywhere ...

[Snip]

There's nothing cozy about her. Seated at her table, one would not dare laugh or take a poke at a fellow guest or, least of all, at the host. Her guests change from week to week, with the possible exception of George Will, to whom she is far less deferential than her predecessors. In fact, she's not deferential at all to anyone. She's polite, attentive but hardly warm. She's not "one of the boys." And there's the rub.

Because she’s a woman? Horse-pucky - I enjoy not-watching her just as much as I enjoy not-watching all the shlubs on the other “major” networks - and for exactly the same reasons.

Try Megan Kelly and see what happens.

Her next job will be with al Jazeera or BBC - that’s my prediction.

She bombing because real Americans have had more than enough of America hating media hacks.

No matter a he or a she, we are sick of them tearing our country down and blaming America for all the world’s failures.

I can’t think of a single reason to watch her.

Article is complete BS:

She is bombing because she is bad.

She is cold, not good looking, aloof and has no concept of moving the discussion beyond some intellectual Sophomoric college discussion and into something that matters to people at home.

As far as not being a DC, insider my gawd, she is married to James Rubin. He is a big time adviser to Hillary and the spokesperson for State under Slick!

It's not just that she's boring she's palpably annoying as well.

PS, she is a Woggie when we are not too big on Woggies telling us now to run our country. The problem is not that AOTB (America Outside The Beltway) doesn't get her, it's that the Inside the Beltway crowd are so stuck on their own! That's Ok. They all think BO and barney Frank are "cool" too.

Her overly thick accent grates over 60 minutes...and her ideology is that of Air America and we know what happened to them.

Well said.

Also, the executives at ABC who thought she would be an audience pleaser, have just demonstrated how out of touch with ‘ordinary’ Americans they are. This is the same kind of detachment from reality that they bring to their decisions of what gets aired as “news.”

Most people know who this lady is. She is anti-American and a pro-Palestinian sympathizer.

She will be gone in less than a year.

I did not know she was married to James Rubin. She is a “big time” DC insider.

Did anyone catch ‘Bob’ the Native American nitwit on Rush yesterday?

He really crystallizes what the core problem with liberals is today, Amanpour included - interrupt whoever you’re talking to constantly, don’t let them get a word in edgewise and deflect any responses by overwhelming them with a fresh batch of new charges. Couch everything you say in anti-American terms. Blame everyone but yourself.

Is it any wonder that left-wing turds like Amanpour and Couric are bombing? People are getting sick and tired of the same old blame America crap from leftists, and it’s starting to show.

Before long, the only people watching her show will be the hard-core masochists, and bedridden invalids who are unable to operate a remote control. That is not a very big market share.

Very funny and so true.
