The GOP Hearts Romney, Palin, Huckabee
Reason ^ | 9/30/10 | Pete Suderman

If Gallup’s newly-released poll looking at the GOP presidential field tells us anything about the current mood of Republican voters, it’s that despite the GOP base's much-publicized outrage over the nation's lack of fiscal restraint, they’re not terribly focused on candidates with strong records of limiting government spending. None of the top three candidates—Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, and Mike Huckabee—have particularly distinguished themselves as serious government cutters. As governor of Arkansas, for example, Huckabee allowed state spending to rise by 65 percent, raised the average tax burden by 47 percent, and expanded the state’s government workforce by 20 percent. Romney, meanwhile, presided over the creation of Massachusetts’ over-budget, subsidy-and-mandate-driven health care system, which served as a model for ObamaCare. And while Palin has dabbled in limited government rhetoric, her main role on the national stage has been as a culture-war lighting rod.

Let's work to see DeMint, Pence, Hunter and Bolton on the ballot instead of the four headed RINO Mitt Palgrichabee

Hey Gallup! P!$$ OFF!

You goons in the ruling class will be the next extinct classification in history and we can pick our own candidates.

If the GOP tries to foist The Huckster and Mitt RomneyCare off on the electorate, I’m voting third party.

To paraphrase Noonan, I don’t want someone who starts in the middle, moves to the left and then calls it a compromise.

There’s only two people in this country that have shown they are willing to stand up and fight the elitist by taking shots and not hiding under the covers - and that’s PALIN and DEMINT!

Anyone else want to put a name that’s taken ABUSE from the elitists for their positions?

And while Palin has dabbled in limited government rhetoric, her main role on the national stage has been as a culture-war lighting rod.

This is all Reason magazine, house organ of the Libertarian Party, has to say against Sarah Palin? Nothing about her actual record in Alaska where she returned money to the people of her state.

Would she be acceptable to the Libertarians if only she came out in favor of sex with animals and legalized pot? And, of course, put her pro-life views on the shelf.

Huck couldn’t beat himself out of a wet paper bag.
Romney is toast because of Romney Care

Palin is a superstar and will be our next president.

Agree that Huck and Romney are toast.

It is too early to say who could win the primaries. Most of us are keeping our powder dry and waiting til after Nov and after the new majority sets an agenda.

Ideally the DeMint/Coburn types in the Senate will control that agenda and the Pence types will control the House agenda. But it would take all teapartiers and conservatives to win, even in upsets while moderates like Kirk in my IL to lose before that shift in control could happen.

the Mitch McConnell types are just to dense and stupid to grasp reality outside the beltway.

“Republican primary voters in Alaska are ready for a change and are rallying to the fiscally responsible leadership embodied by Governor Palin.”

– Pat Toomey, 9/24/2007

“Palin’s veto ax lops $268 million from budget”

– Achorage Daily News Headline, 5/24/2008

“(Palin) has come out and told her own congressional delegation, all Republicans, ‘Stop with the earmarks! It’s wrong, it’s wrong! Even when it benefits us in Alaska.’”

– Michael Medved, 12/21/2007

“Palin’s tough spending cuts drew criticism from Republican legislators whose pet projects were vetoed.”

– Fred Barnes, 7/16/2007

“This week, it was Palin who singlehandedly killed the leading symbol of Republican spending excess in Washington: the Bridge to Nowhere.”

– Patrick Ruffini, 9/29/2007

And here is Governor Palin’s Fiscal Record, also before she was nominated:

July 1st, 2007 – Massive line item vetoes (lopping almost a quarter-billion dollars off of a $1.8 billion capital budget).

Dec. 11th, 2007 – Palin’s proposed budget slashes earmark requests, and dramatically slows growth of government.

March 23rd, 2008 – More vetoes in the “supplemental budget”. Palin also demands that legislators explain their pork projects to her personally before she signs off on any of them. This issue was particularly hilarious because the budget was for “emergency spending” and it included (among other things) the construction of batting cages and gun ranges.

May 24th, 2008 – Second consecutive year of huge line-item vetoes in the state’s capital budget (over a quarter-billion dollars this time, 10% of the total capital budget).

Gallup Poll “based on Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents”

Republican-leaning Independents” = Lying Dems

The Poll is bogus. Totally bogus.

There is no way that Romney is ahead of Palin. The regional spread on Romney’s support is East and West. Both Liberal Coasts. RINO country.

-—”Let’s work to see DeMint, Pence, Hunter and Bolton on the ballot instead of the four headed RINO Mitt Palgrichabee”-—

Now there’s a four-headed RINO: Romney, Rossi, and Grahamnesty’s most loyal supporter; Mr. Amnesty compromise himself; McCain and Huckabee’s biggest fan (and endorser of all RINOs after the primaries, no exceptions), and the man who tried to single-handedly give us that LOST treaty you dug-up in desperation to try and score points against Palin.

Of course, you’re also a RINO, just like these four. In fact, everyone’s a RINO!

RINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

It must be wonderful to live in a world where you pretend that endorsements are the main reason why conservatives aren’t buying your Precious’ bona fides.

I doubt you’d really want to use the Anchorage Daily News as a witness to Palin’s goodness. Or Ruffini for that matter, an A number 1 rooter tooter, if I recall.

-Jim DeMint: “I’m thankful for Sarah Palin... She has given cover to great conservatives... Sarah’s gotten out there and taken the slings and arrows. I think it’s been very helpful to the party... Resorting to hyperbole is one of the easiest-to-spot manifestations of PDS...which you have in spades
