30 Year Life Member of the NRA, Canceled my membership tonight.
I think the NRA needs to keep the threat of gun bans to keep their power. They need to keep the power lopsideg in the pro-gun direction, but when they screw up we are all screwed.
The best group out there to join is the Jews For the Preservation of Firearm Ownership (JPFO). Next best is Second AMendment Foundation. Next is Gun Owners of America. Just my opinion, they are all better than the NRA.
Proud to have given money to all three of these groups, and none (never will either) to the NRA.
Dont apologize Robbin. The NRA loyalists here wont get it. Just looking at what The Comedian posted and how many D’s there just shows we have an organization that claims to have our best interests at heart has clearly lost it’s way.
and I dont know why PD Shooter had to bother Jim Robinson because most here do not agree with his loyalist stance.
That's statistically unlikely.
I became an NRA life member while at Knox in 80 while attending AOBC, first time I could afford it, I think it was $300 back then and I paid $25 a month till it was paid off. Much later while at Leavenworth, I met a young Chris Cox at a Gun show at KCI Expo Center. While discussing some (anti) gun magazine importation legislation Senator John Ashcroft was sponsoring at the time, I quickly discovered that he a pompous horses ass, who knew it all, and told you so. He really looked out of place, as well as out of touch with the regular folks at a Missouri gun Show.
I am not ready to towel yet and I am currently a Benefactor member. However, I did past over the opportunity the other day to become a member of the “Presidents Counsel”, mostly due the fact that I recently found out Wayne LaPierre salary is over 1 Million a year...
My hubby canceled his when they endorsed Alan Mollohan. They won’t get another penny from our house. The election of democrats means wrong votes that hurt our country.
This is one of the biggest problems I have with SINGLE ISSUE organizations: Many of them are BLIND to the big picture.
In the case of the NRA, what the hell good will it do to keep our guns if THAT’S the last freedom tyrants like Harry Reid and his pals come to take. After another 50 years of government school indoctrination, a majority of the adults then will have been so thoroughly brainwashed that they’ll turn them in voluntarily, killing any chance to restore America, the IDEA.
And the saddest thing about that is that they won’t even comprehend what they’ve just pissed away.
When an opponent declares, I will not come over to your side, I calmly say, Your child belongs to us already... What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.”
Adolph Hitler Speech November 1933
? Do you honestly believe NO OTHER ORGANIZATRION can carry the good fight. People like you are how RINOS stay in power forever. They think they no one else can do the job, and over the years, they turn into the spectors and McCains. Thats what the NRA has become. They are the Arlen Spector of the pro gun groups
Making back room deals instead of holding to principles
How is the guy killing the NRA? Please elaborate.
It is a voluntary association. He cannot leave if they start doing sh1t he disagrees with?
By any chance are you a union guy?
That salary is outrageous. There is no reason for him to pull in a million bucks a year for a gun-rights lobbying group. No way. The guy learned a few things from unions, I bet.
I just ‘thought’ you were a lobbyist snob...
Well then, you have removed all doubt...
I now know with no doubt in mind...
Next time I dig someone out of the mud, don’t dare take credit there, clown...
Yeah, namely that people who pay money to an organization that's supposed to represent their interests, by God have the right to expect that organization to represent their interests.
And when it shows signs of no longer doing so, they no longer pay money to it.
Pretty obvious trend here.
Better at preaching to the choir, or better at striking fear into the hearts of politicians when they're deciding how to vote on a gun bill?
I'd honestly be interested in seeing any evidence those organizations you mentioned have any real political clout. My resources are scarce enough that I don't really want to be throwing money away supporting organizations that are good at shouting loud, but can safely be ignored by the politicians that do the voting.
That’s statistically unlikely.
Your statement would be true, if the NRA was the same organization they were 30 years ago when I joined.
The reality is, they aren’t. Did you see that list of current Dems the NRA has endorsed for this election.
Do you think even a fraction of them are actually stronger on gun rights than the repub running against them?
I don’t. And if you support Harry Reid, I won’t support you, even if I’ve been a life member for 30 years.
I didn’t come to this decison lightly. I’m actually very sad about it. But I can assure you, it’s the NRA that’s gone soft, not me....
Too many (D)s for me!
(D)= gungrabber
eff that...
Sad that the original aims of the NRA's founding organization got lost in marketing, fancy facilities and a willingness to cut deals to perpetuate its own hierarchy. I used to think that well-heeled Fudds who equated 2A with the privilege of buying duck stamps were the NRA's biggest problem, but it appears that beltway-itis was the more virulent disease.
Might I stick my cyberneck out and suggest you consider the Second Amendment Foundation? Alan Gottlieb is doing tremendous work. Also the various arms collector organizations are worth supporting after investigation, of course.
Stupid and short sighted? speak for yourself, there buddy!
But they need their money
