When the government regulates how much water a toilet can flush, or what kind of lightbulbs you can put in your table lamps at home, the Constitution looks pretty small in the rear view mirror. Exactly where in the Constitution does it say that it is the government's business how much water my toilet is flushing or what kind of lightbulb illuminates my household?
But the busybodies in the environmental movement have folks convinced of a lot of things that just aren't so. Remember the campaign that passed the lightbulb bill? The holier-than-thou greenies told us that if we only changed the lightbulbs in our homes to the compact-fluorescent lightbulbs or "CFL's" as the hipsters knowingly call them, that we could save so much energy that we would practically solve the energy crisis.
Turns out that the CFLs are going to be a lot more trouble than they are worth. According to this article, not only will they NOT be the great savers of energy that they were promoted to be, but if you actually break one, you practically need a hazardous waste suit to clean it up due to the mercury housed inside, and that is after you have "evacuated the area of all children and pets." Plus, these CFLs are far more expensive than traditional lightbulbs and they have all the warmth of the fluorescent lighting in a swimsuit changing room at a department store.
The saddest part of the bill of goods sold to the American public on these CFLs was that producing them would create jobs. And the CFLs have created jobs....if you live in China.
So I dunno about you all, but I'm going to stockpile good old fashioned lightbulbs before they become extinct in January 2012. How the American public was ever convinced of this stupidity has to be one for the record books. But I'll look to the bright side -- the best part about these crazy lightbulbs may be the new neon sign Americans will see above these kinds of fad bills that come before Congress that reads "Buyer, beware!"
Nanny State PING!
I am stockpiling more than a few and plan to sell them.
The clause that is perverted to do that duty is "To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian tribes;"
I wouldn't think, not being a foreign nation, state, or tribe, that what I do could be regulated by the FedGov under that clause.

I’m saving the new CFL bulbs as self-defense weapons when the dumbass feds come for me! I’ll threaten to throw and break one near them! LOL!! That should cause them to shake in fear. LOL LOL

Ironic that the GOP gave us the EPA.
Restoring the Edison light bulb to its proper place (in the marketplace, to be displaced when, and only when, someone in the marketplace comes up with a better idea) should follow the Obamunistcare demise coattails.
Nixon, wasn't it?
Carter gave us the Dept. of (no) Energy and the Dept. of (no) Education.
I have had a ‘low flow’ toilet for years. I hate it. It is not just about having to flush a lot and clogging. It gets dirty more often and I need to clean it more often. To clean a toilet you need to flush, then use a chemical cleaner, then flush again. So more chemicals into the water supply. I am willing to bet that the lazy politicians who came up with the low flow toilet never touched a toilet brush in their life.
CFLs totally suck. I’ll never have one my property.
Lots of research $$ are being invested in LED technology. Eventually LEDs will replace CFLs. Can’t happen soon enough for me. LEDs cost very little to operate and last for years and years.
Or, better yet, mandate both. That way, we can reduce the oversupply of housing units.
No you won't, not lit with a CFL.....
The LED lights and the CFLs with fail when the EMP is detonated. The incandescent ones will survive.
Now do you understand?
Virtually every part of this country’s electric grid that is vulnerable is being made overseas. We can’t have the citizens being unaffected.

I still have two old clunky big flush toilets, they work fine, even with my big .... Woosh, clean, no problem (won't trade them in anytime soon). Flush for no. 1 is perhaps a little bit overdone, but that could be handled with a sensible fix - a half-flush mechanism, but no! The elite, frenchie, know-it-alls figure 1.6 gallons is sufficient for whatever comes out of one's body, plus the cleaning paper.
Who is to inform these fecal-heads? They likely have diarrhea mostly, (too much fine wine), their toilets work ok for them, not needed for big ...., just thinking.
I say, let us not have any wine glass larger than 3 ounces - then these elite scum would be constantly occupied with mournful requests to "please refill my glass", instead of thinking up more torments for us general folk.
Government schools brain washing kids for the last 30 years is the cause.

Is that a fact?
