Wednesday September 29, 2010Pro-Lifers Boot Planned Parenthood from Michigan Counties
By Kathleen Gilbert COLDWATER, Michigan, September 28, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Southern Michigan pro-lifers celebrated victory last week after steady grassroots pressure prompted local health administrators not to renew Planned Parenthood's health provider leases. The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency board on Thursday defeated a motion to renew the abortion giant's lease in the three counties' health system with a 3-3 vote. A majority would have been needed to renew the lease, which expires next month, for Planned Parenthood's four locations. The health commissioners had heard from pro-lifers at their monthly meetings since January. The concerned citizens urged the commissioners to terminate the boards agreement with the abortion provider, which became widely known two years into the three-year lease. Jim Goethals, the president of St. Joseph County Right to Life, told LifeSiteNews.com that when the local pro-life community learned last October that Planned Parenthood was operating in their local hospital, pastor Chuck Vizthum of Hope Community Church led a grassroots protest with parishioners holding homemade signs saying "Planned Parenthood must go." Media picked up on the protest, and demonstrations against Planned Parenthood's presence spread. Meanwhile, 2,000 signatures were gathered voicing discontent with Planned Parenthoods presence in the communitys backyard. Local right-to-life groups began searching for an appropriate replacement health provider, and now expect to settle on one within one to two months. Goethals noted that locals in the deeply pro-life area were upset that Planned Parenthood would be funneling women towards their one abortion facility in Kalamazoo. "For Planned Parenthood to come down in these counties was a bold move on their part to begin with," he said. Goethals credited the combined efforts of St. Joseph County Right to Life, Branch Right to Life, and Hillside County Right to Life, all affiliates of National Right to Life, as well as the area's abundance of pro-life parish communities. While some objected that Planned Parenthood did not perform surgical abortions in the counties, Goethals said that wasn't the whole picture. "What about the morning after pill? What about the chemical abortions? You don't hear anything about these," he said. |

More bad news for Planned Parenthood
Seems like the folks there were almost crying over the fact that Christine O'Donnell raised so much money so quickly.
I wonder if this has anything to do with all the prayers and hard work by the people involved in 40 Days for Life
I am still waiting to hear what happens about the IRS investigation of Planned Parenthood Golden GateM
Tax Fraud and cooking da' books seems to have been the theme there.
Maybe there were some illegal donations to Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer.

It may not be May 1st, but do you think Saint Joseph might deserve an assist on this one. He had a county named after him...
These were supposedly 4 health clinics that Planned Parenthood operated.
What kind of health care can Planned Parenthood provide?
We’re taking Michigan back, one county at a time.
Before this, it was very positive news in Maryland and New Jersey (setbacks for the Baby Killers).
As I posted to someone else on another thread, when folks like Planned Parenthood are sad, God is probably smiling about what is happening...
I was blessed to have lived in Hillsdale County at one point in my life. It is truly God’s Country.

Verbs, nouns, and capitalization, oh my...
I grew up just across the county line in Hanover. Spent many a Saturday night at the roller rink in Jonesville.
This is Walberg country.

While I am glad these counties spoke up, in the interest of fairness, let me show you the other side of the coin.
3% of Planned Parenthood goes to abortion. The rest (minus admin costs) is STD testing and treatment, birth control and counseling services.
In our minds, of course, PP is a bad group, so they must go. But go down the street, and ask any teenager where they’d go if they thought they had an STD (oh, and there are LOTS more of them than the bunch we had in the 70’s) or thought they might be pregnant. They would say “Planned Parenthood”, cos that’s what they know.
So, the other important services that planned parenthood provide will have to be provided by someone else. THERE HAS TO BE A PLACE FOR KIDS TO GO WHEN THEY ARE IN THESE SITUATIONS...and I am NOT saying it has to be PP. I just wanted you all to know how much of their business is abortions, and how they are perceived by our teens.
The fact is Planned Parenthood is the largest single provider of abortions in our country. They exist to kill babies! The other services you cite are necessary but are also available from many other sources, sources that do not promote and provide abortions.
If Planned Parenthood only killed one baby that would be enough for us to try to wipe them out.
I understand what you're saying, blu, but I recently read that of 6000 clinic visit records examined from a Texas PP clinic, only 3 referred for adoption. Meanwhile, PP has the lion's share of the abortion indusry in the USA.
More about that, and some of it from their own annual reports, HERE (LINK)
Only 3% of the money given to Hamas actually gets used to kill people so — to use your argument — we need to leave them alone.
Sorry, no dice.
I want to move there. Only two counties over. Economy and husband's education puts a damper on the idea.
Ever been to Lost Nations? THAT is one of the most beautiful places I've been. (hope it's still in its pristine state)
Adding this to my list!
Nice job. Nice state except Detroit and the insane libs in places like Ann Arbor.
Planned Parenthood is in the very very profitable busine$$ of killing babies.
ping
Be nice to know all 16 counties.
Thanks topher.
