Ann Coulter At Homocon: 'Marriage Is Not A Civil Right. You're Not Black.'
tpmdc ^ | September 26, 2010 | Megan Carpentier

Ann Coulter doesn't mince words. And even when speaking to a gay conservative organization, GOProud, at their inaugural Homocon party on Saturday night, she apparently wasn't willing to start.

After a series of jokes about conservative that sounded -- and were received -- more like a stand-up act then a political speech, Coulter told the assembled (and predominantly wealthy) conservative gay crowd why they should oppose same sex marriage, adding, "I should warn you: I've never failed to talk gays out of gay marriage."

And then she did.

First, she ran down the stereotypical stand-up comedian's list of reasons, including that lacking the legal right to marriage allows the less-committed partner to weasel out of it. But in a more serious note, she parroted the losing arguments of the lawyers supporting California's Prop 8 and told the crowd that the reason she opposes (and they should oppose) same sex marriage is that it is strictly for procreation.

In one of a series of racially insensitive remarks that pervaded her speech, Coulter added, "Marriage is not a civil right. You're not black." It was part of a larger argument on which she later elaborated, telling the crowd that the 14th Amendment only applies to African-Americans and that it does not, in fact, apply to women, LGBT people or other minorities.

Imho, Ann was unwittingly used by GOProud.

That's because she's not nearly as intelligent as she portrays herself to be.

Sure her books decent, but we have no way of knowing how much support staff she has doing the hard work.

And her TV appearances are always "entertaining," but that's because she KNOWS what to expect. She knows if she's being interviewed but anyone other than Hannity and a few others that she is among hostile people and she answers their questions to shock them. The same happens when she speaks at liberal colleges.

However, GOProud wasn't hostile to her, they told her how much they agree with her and she bought it.

Bottom line, no matter what she said:

Money and recognition were gained by deceivers who are pushing the sodomite agenda on America.

Imho, Ann has become a conservative icon to some, and despite some odd political stances, they have refused to acknowledge the inconsistencies we have seen since the 2008 election. Her support of Mitt Romney as a candidate in 2008 should have triggered an alarm, and her continuing support of Romney should trigger a reassessment of her value as a political guru. This GOProud event that she tacitly supported, rather than confirming her conservative credentials, justifies the growing concern some of us have had.

Good for her! I wonder how the speech was received by the attendees...

Gay marriage is a foolish cause for homosexuals, its all about forcing society to accept homosexuality as the same as heterosexuality, and while the vast majority of people are willing to live and let live, they are NOT willing to normalize homosexulaity once it is made clear to them exactly what that means for society.

Ann nailed that when she said marriage is for procreation, period. Anyone, man/man, man/woman, woman/woman can enter into any kind of legal arrangement they want to except that marriage is for the purpose of having children and legally passing on names and property. Sure, that can probably be done through other legal arrangements but the purpose of marriage is just that. Members of the same sex can not do that through marriage.

It is, however, for the purpose of destroying our fundamental values and Christian principles and sowing discord in our society. The Marxists realized early on that they could not defeat us in war and in order to subvert us they would have to destroy our social fundamentals and moral beliefs. That is what this is about, just as you said.

"[ It's for whoever it says it's for. It doesn't say anything about black slaves, or even blacks. She's wrong about that. ]"

"Then.... you know nothing about the 14th amendment.. Could be you think America is a democracy.. also.."

Throwing out an insult is not a substitute for making a point. If you want to say my statement is wrong, show how it's wrong.

In fact, it's not wrong. The entire text of the 14th Ammendment contains no reference to "blacks" of any variety. Or to any race at all. Apparently you're the one that doesn't know anything about it.

The 14th Amendment was passed right after the end of the Civil War in order to make freed slaves citizens.

Christians are not allowed to hate anyone.

Yes, but they're allowed to hate what others represent.

Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

I don’t say I will agree with them on that issue, I won’t. My point is that there ARE those who agree with much of the conservative agenda, but not all. I want their support on the issues we agree on. That doesn’t mean one has to cave on the ones where we differ.

Homosexuals are not conservative. Their intent is to use the force of government to mainstream their deviancy. What is conservative about that?

Christians are not allowed to hate anyone.

This is a homosexual talking point. Disapproval of deviants equals hatred. It does not. And anger is Scriptural. Try reading Mark 11: 15 - 19. That's righteous anger in the face of sin.

IF the queers were seeking equality and endorsement from Coulter they certainly didn't get it. There are a whole lot of crooks, whoremongers and a variety of other sinners who are conservative. After all aren't we all sinners trying to get better. The fact that they are doing something reprehensible does not bar them from being conservative. If a person goes to a porn site on his computer does that bar him from being conservative?

When Christ visited with the woman who was a prostitute and living with a man that was not her husband Christ still spoke with her with kindness. When the Jews brought Christ a woman who was caught in adultery Christ did not shun her but asked those who wanted punish her to go ahead, that he who had no sin should be the first one to throw a stone. At the end of this confrontation he told her to go her way and sin no more. More than this he told her that he did not condemn her either.

Catholics and Mormons are mostly opposed to each others religious views but on homosexual marriage they agree and work together.

On homosexual matters conservatives disagree with all homosexual groups but on other matters we can agree and like Ann Coulter we tell them their homosexual actions are a perversion, a matter of choice. But that does not preculde some cooperation.

There is of course nothing conservative about homosexuality. But if a homosexual is anti-abortion, for example (as Ann Coulter suggests they ought to be)is THAT not conservative? There are so many issues out there that I am not willing to throw anyone overboard on, say, the abortion issue just because I disagree with them on gay marriage, for example.

Your points would be valid if the crooks had a Celebrate Crime group and if the whoremongers had a PimpPride group and still wanted to be conservative.

What do you think GOProud IS, and what they’re proud of? They’re not looking to “get better”.

Well, Ann got the attention she craves... again.

She gave them a talking point. They are claiming that there is now a "dialogue" with Republicans.

There are a whole lot of crooks, whoremongers and a variety of other sinners who are conservative.

Another talking point. This doesn't excuse deviant sexual behavior. And I don't remember those groups pushing for special rights.

At the end of this confrontation he told her to go her way and sin no more. More than this he told her that he did not condemn her either.

He first told her He did not condemn her THEN He told her to sin no more. If she did continue in her sin, do you believe it was with HIS approval? Of course not.

Your citations have nothing to do with unrepentant sinners nor their pushing for special rights for their sin.

and like Ann Coulter we tell them their homosexual actions are a perversion

Where did she state that their sexual practices were a perversion?

But that does not preculde some cooperation.

Yes it does. You don't co-operate with sin. They are pushing their sinful agenda. And succeeding.

What would be the point of joining GOProud as they have a homosexual agenda? Someone that's chaste wouldn't be interested in "domestic partner" issues. So the premise is flawed. Are you really judging the contents of someone's mind and their soul here? Really? Do you think that's your job? Do you think you're even capable of knowing all the reasons that someone could join GOProud? If you do, than you're a better man than I.

[A]anyone who endeavors to legitimize homosexuality is an unrepentant sinner as they don’t recognize the sin. Would you be so kind as to flesh this out a little bit more for me? I confess that I do not understand what actions constitute efforts to "legitimize homosexuality." Let's say there was a law that made it a criminal offense, punishable by a year in the hoosegow, for a man to engage in sexual contact with another man. Would a taxpayer who thought it was a waste of his hard-earned tax dollars to pay cops to arrest Adam & Steve for what they do behind closed doors be guilty of trying to legitimize homosexuality?

Oh please! You gave a premise that was ridiculous. Get over it.

GOProud is for homosexual rights. And that is ALL they are interested in. Their name is GO Proud. What on EARTH do you think that means?!

Christopher Barron, GOProud Chairman of the Board: "We are a gay organization, we only work on gay issues, we have never claimed otherwise. My God people."

http://twitter.com/ChrisRBarron Aug 4, 2010; 4:04pm

GOPround Federal Legislative Priorities

1 – TAX REFORM - Death tax repeal; domestic partner tax equity, and other changes to the tax code that will provide equity for gays and lesbians;

2 – HEALTHCARE REFORM – Free market healthcare reform. Legislation that will allow for the purchase of insurance across state lines – expanding access to domestic partner benefits;

3 – SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM - Bringing basic fairness to the Social Security system through the creation of inheritable personal savings accounts.

4 – DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL REPEAL – Repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy.

6 – FIGHTING GLOBAL EXTREMISTS – Standing strong against radical regimes who seek to criminalize gays and lesbians.

7 – DEFENDING OUR CONSTITUTION – Opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment.

8 – ENCOURAGING COMMUNITY ENTREPRENEURSHIP – Package of free market reforms to encourage and support small businesses and entrepreneurship in the gay community.
