Via GOP12, Im surprised that this modest statement of painfully obvious fact is making waves today. Click the image below and skip ahead to 8:00 for the money part, although the whole things worth watching. He starts with a cute bit about phoning the families of National Guardsmen to say hi, proceeds to talk about Campaign 08, and then after the part about Obama praises Palin for her energy and spunk and passion. (Code words, says Ben Smith, trying to stir up trouble.) What makes this newsworthy, I guess, is that its a rare caution about hubris at a moment when not only has Obama been beaten to a pulp politically but establishment Republicans are themselves on the ropes and being hammered by tea partiers. The key word, though, is economy. Like Mitt says, it will come back despite The Ones best efforts to the contrary, and when it does hes going to get most of the credit. The only hope for the GOP nominee is that Romney is right in thinking that the American people have established a perspective on the President which is going to be lasting. Will it last, though? If unemployment starts to dip and Obama inches right to pass some economic legislation with the GOP Congress, hell sell himself next time as the centrist pragmatist of David Brookss dreams. Which will be Romneys cue to argue that the GOP needs a nominee whos equally centrist and can compete for swing voters, thus raising the question: Does a stronger Obama actually improve Mitts chances for the nomination by making electability more of an issue for base voters? Hmmmm.
If the two main choices are Obama and Romney will you join me in voting for the Green Party candidate?
There is a chance that there will be a sufficient number of liberals upset by Obama that 5% of the vote could go to the Greens. If that happens then all sorts of things kick in, like their candidates being allowed into debates, etc.
Going directly at the Democrats with the Republicans doesn't seem to have worked that well to date. A pincer movement involving a left-flanking Green Party might just do the trick!
The buzz is he is. Axelrod’s leaving is rumored to be to reassume his role as campaign manager for the 2012 reelection bid
Romney would have an extremely difficult time beating Obama, tis true.
Next stop: Secretary-General of the United Nations and turning the UN into a de facto world government.
“Susana Martinez of New Mexico”
He endorsed Martinez the day after the Primary.
Does sound like he didn’t even know he (his pac) endorsed Martinez.
I will never vote for romney.
Ditto.
Ditto your ditto
Care to hazzrard a guess who they will put up then? Will they through the election- how can they justify anyone if the sitting pres. walks away?
Let us “deem” ourselves ungovernable, then.
And.....Mitt Romney is a mayonnaise sandwich on white bread;
Obama is the sh*t sandwich we must purge ourselves of.
He can't without addressing the birth certificate issue, and he can't produce an acceptable one.
Dead on the money, my friend. IF Obama even makes it to the end of his one and only term, there's a widespread tacit understanding that the people will NOT be fooled a second time by the fraud.
The country will also be sufficiently revolutionary by that time, that the bc and the eligibility question will be positively radioactive, and on the lips of everyone in the country. The issue can't be silenced, and it cannot be overcome by the MSM.
Palin brings “energy and spunk and passion” to “my” party?
Calling a female candidate for president “spunky” is condescending, forgetting to say “our” party in regards to Palin is condescending, he followed that with saying that when McCain was looking at the list for female republicans to make a vice presidential pick, and THAT is condescending.
Conservatives have caught on to the RINO game. I'm not voting for a RINO that steals our freedoms & wealth just like a Rat. At least Rats stand by their principles, while RINOs have no principles.
Given the choice of Romney or a Rat (Obama), I will vote for neither.
I can’t stand this creep
"Let's con them all!"
Allahpundit is a cr@pweasel blogger, and Romney is a cr@pweasel politician. In 2012, I hope they’ll be happy together on some uncharted island in the South Pacific.
You’re right, and the author of the piece revels in it. The author always had it in for Sarah Palin.
“pretty hard to beat” sounds darned defeatist. How about — “Let’s give the Marxists a run for their money. We can do it.”
sheesh..
I will never vote for romney.
Ditto.
Ditto your ditto
Ditto x 4.
