NEW YORK – President Obama will sit down for an interview with BBC Persian Friday morning to address the people of Iran, the White House said Thursday.
“This is an opportunity for him to speak directly to an Iranian audience,” Ben Rhodes, a deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, told reporters at a briefing in New York.
Obama will reiterate a message he had for Iran since taking office, Rhodes said: That the United States seeks a better relationship with Iranians, but that is only possible if Tehran takes certain steps on its nuclear program.
“Thus far they have repeatedly refused to do so,” Rhodes said.
Obama’s interview will come on his last day in New York, where he has been since Wednesday for the United Nations General Assembly.

Well, if I were among the Iranian people, I’d want to know where the US was during the uprising. I would not believe the US is on the side of the people.

We knew Obama was an idiot from the beginning. The surprise seems to be that he’s incapable of learning. His lack of experience is really irrelevant, since he learns nothing from it.
I walked out of a car dealership the other day because they had the asshat on TV and were all watching it speak. Was followed out by a saleman asking if he could help me with anything. Just kept walking. They lost a sale.

Yeah, he’s even now sitting with a Farsi tutor to learn how to say “I apologize for America” and other grovel-words.
The message seems to be: “Iranian people, we like you and want to work with you. But those policies of the regime you elected have got to change, or that can’t happen.”
If he directly called for regime change, how long do you think it would be before there was a major shoot-out between Israel and Iran? Israel might very well end up bombing the Iranian people back to the Stone Age, which would do them no favors.
At least that was my first interpretation. How do you think O should have presented it? More bluntly than he did?
