Ronald Reagan is today viewed as having achieved greatness even by political enemies. Few disagree that the 40th president brought down the Berlin Wall, brought America out of its post-Vietnam/ post-Watergate malaise, and brought confidence and vigor back to the White House.
But to the man he beat in the 1980 election, Reagan was a boob whose "life seems to be governed by a few anecdotes and vignettes that he has memorized."
That was President Jimmy Carter's thoughts on his final day in the White House, January 20th, 1981, when 52 U.S. hostages would finally be released by Iran, just minutes after Reagan took the oath of office.

carter is a bigger loser than previously believed
Nasty, vile little man.
What a boob...
I didn't think that was even possible.
Jeeezzzz, get over it Carter. I know you are terrified of losing the title of Worst President EVER. But you nemesis is Obama on this one.
Jimmah Cahtah is a disgrace.
When he finally checks out, the 7-11 in Plains will have trouble keeping the beer cooler stocked.
I guess they haven't had that problem since Billy passed on.
Jealousy is such a nasty thing.
Let’s just say the grass won’t need watering.
WAH! WAH! WAH! typical democrat big baby.
Will he ride in a hearse or a clown car?
It will be interesting to track the sale numbers this so-called book generates.
Jimmy is the worst ex-president ever. Oh... and he was the 2nd worst president... 0bama is the first worst.
Carter is the nation’s littlest President, saved from being the nation’s worst President by President Obama.
Those of us who remember the Carter years will know just how pathetic this old bastard looks by trying to rewrite history and in typical liberal fashion absolve himself of any and all responsibility in what was the worst and least effictive Administration (until now) in the Nations history.
Why not? He was wrong about everything else....
It is called having principles and an ideology based upon life experience!
Did Jesus similarly have a “life (that) seems to be governed by a few anecdotes and vignettes that he has memorized.” because he too taught via parable?
What a disgusting little man. What a disgrace to the office.
“While grandiosity is the diagnostic hallmark of pathological narcissism, there is research evidence that pathological narcissism occurs in two forms, (a) a grandiose state of mind in young adults that can be corrected by life experiences, and (b) the stable disorder described in DSM-IV, which is defined less by grandiosity than by severely disturbed interpersonal relations.”
A President is remembered by his accomplishments.
Jimmy Carter had the Iranian hostage situation, a politcally botched rescue attempt, gave away the Panama Canal, presided over the highest inflation rate (13%), highest interest rates (home loans at 20.5%) and unemployment rates that that parallel what we have today.
Under Jimmy we had words we had to learn like ‘Détente’; where we cut military spending while Russia increased theirs. We had Russia invading Afghanistan, and the US Grain Embargo that bankrupted farmers and established Brazil and Chile as the world’s top producers of grain (where once we reigned supreme).
And this is just off the top of my head. Now Jimmy wants to whine that his miserable faiures; were somehow not his fault. That Ronald Reagan, by reversing the Carter policies not only reduced inflation from 13 to 4% in the first 3 years of his presidency, but also dropped interest rates from 20.5% down to 7.5%. Unemployment rates dropped from 10% to 4%, Pres. Reagan cut tax rates and the American industrial engine surged forward to levels that had never been seen before, or since.
Name the topic, and Carter did exactly the wrong thing - including 3 Mile Island.
