Jarratt, Va. (CNN) -- Teresa Lewis, a 41-year-old grandmother, met with family members and a spiritual adviser Thursday, hours before she was scheduled to be the first woman executed in Virginia in nearly a century.

Lewis is set to die by lethal injection at 9 p.m. ET at Greensville Correctional Center. The victims' family members are to witness the execution, state Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor said.

The death row inmate pleaded guilty in the 2002 slayings of her husband and stepson in their rural home near Danville, Virginia, about 145 miles from Richmond.

Why would she plead guilty without getting the death penalty off the table?

That's what plea bargains are about. No sense pleading if you don't get anything out of it.

Sounds like she had a dildo for a lawyer.

Don't talk to police

Bad title. It makes it sound like she will die 2002 times.

Not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, apparently.

I didn’t think there was any confusion, whatsoever in the title.

It’s common practice to use issues of mental illness, childhood trauma, brain damage, low IQs, a conversion to Christianity and sudden epiphany that one’s behavior was wrong, etc. as a form of affirmative defense or to beg for clemency/leniency.

The people pushing this are in reality arguing against capital punishment and they simply use what they perceive a likable guy/gal or a story that raises an emotional response like this to drive their agenda.

BS- execute.

I do.

Deserved and, I hope, administered.

I’ll check in the AM.

Lewis admitted to police that she concocted the plot to kill her husband, Julian Lewis, and his son, C.J. Lewis, an Army reservist set to be deployed to Iraq. At the time, she was having an affair with Matthew Shallenberger and paid him and then-19-year-old Rodney Fuller to commit murder for the victims' insurance money. Court records show that Lewis gave the two killers cash to buy weapons and left the door of the home open for easy entry.

Lewis was in bed with her husband when he was hit with a shotgun blast by Shallenberger. Julian Lewis survived long enough to tell police, "My wife knows who did this to me." Fuller killed C.J. Lewis in his bedroom down the hall.

I just want the governor to know that I am so sorry, deeply from my heart," Lewis recently said. "And if I could take it back, I would, in a minute. ... I just wish I could take it back. And I'm sorry for all the people that I've hurt in the process."

Hey, she said she was sorry, what more do you want?

Being ugly is not a capital crime. Snuffing out the lives of two innocent people to get their insurance money is.

" In a nutshell, the bottom line is this: all three of these individuals knew what they were doing: low IQ, “dependent personality disorder” (whatever that is), and addiction to pain meds brought on by a laundry list of physical ailments did not “adversely” affect Lewis’ judgment to the point that while screwing Shallenberger she didn’t understand the “conspiracy” she and “her lover” concocted to kill off hubby for “his money” and to later add the stepson to the victim list for his “life insurance” money as well."

Her facial features indicate fetal alcohol syndrome with all that means as far as mental status.

While the State has every right to impose the death penalty and I agree with that, in this case, I hope it is commuted to life in prison.

Yup. The media and the intl. community reminded Texans about all that, ad-nauseum, before Karla Tucker was executed in Texas for a couple of pick-ax killings she committed many years before. The media even went so far as to inform us that Karla Tucker "enjoyed tossed salads and was living a healthy life, blahblah...". GW was Governor at the time, and refused to interfere in her euthanization.

She had the guy she was screwing on the side kill her hubby with a shotgun so as to collect on the life insurance. So ‘fetal alcohol syndrome’ makes one greedy? And you can tell this from her facial features? LMAO!

Yes, from her facial features.

I already posted that I have no problem with the State imposing the death penalty, but in this case, I am wondering if it is just.

I’m rather glad she didn’t figure it out.

She is apparently guilty of a death penalty crime.
