Connecticut GOP Senate hopeful Linda McMahon is refusing to remove a Web ad that uses archive footage of John F. Kennedy talking about the importance of tax cuts. The 30-second spot, titled "A Good Idea Then and Now," uses 1963 footage of the late president arguing that tax cuts would serve as an economic stimulus. It's a message meant to bolster McMahon's position that the so-called Bush tax cuts, set to expire later this year, should be extended.
Edward Kennedy Jr., the late president's nephew, sent a letter to McMahon this week asking the GOP candidate to pull the ad, arguing that it "falsely implies" that JFK would have supported tax cuts for the same reason she does. "Using President Kennedy's image in your ad gives your tax position false legitimacy," ~snip Kennedy argues that the economic climate in '63 was "vastly different" from where the country stands today -- and that, in turn, means that JFK's push for tax cuts was "very different" from the GOP's. He accuses McMahon of trying to "capitalize" on his uncle's legacy.
But in a letter Thursday, McMahon refuses to stand down on the ad. ~snip
Not only did McMahon refuse to remove the ad, but her campaign suggested that it may be moving into TV rotation as well.

Not sure I like a Repub coat-tailing off of JFK.
But if it pisses off a Kennedy - then yeah. Great Idea!
Good for her. It’s used fairly and if anything it’s his leftist family that distorts his record.
I accuse the entire Kennedy family of usurping his image and legacy... so there.
Any movies of J.F.K. stumbling arond high on the drugs he was on while in the White House?
Or maybe of J.F.K. drunk with his brothers Teddy and Bobby?
The Kennedy Clan . . . still playing the pity card after all these years.

Presidents are presidents of the entire United States, not just some people. JFK now belongs to our history and any candidate has a right to use a clip of him.
The Pravda Media has revisionist history spin that tax cuts are a BAD THING for the economy.
STFU Kennedys. Ted got buried with the last of the bloody shirt. Nobody gives a shyt about your filthy clan of rapists and drunks.
But if it pisses off a Kennedy - then yeah. Great Idea!
Dittos in pissing off a Kennedy. JFK would not recognize the dems of today. They are of the same mind as those he fought against; Marxists, Maoist, communists. Thus the reason for nephew getting his lacy pink panties in a wad. Wouldn't want uncle associated with a Patriotic Movement or candidate.
It’s not coat tailing to tell the world the truth and to use someone from their side to bolster the arguement.
Shoot, I use it all the time when getting into discussions about tax cuts.
I posted the original JFK tax cut address to FaceBook. Sent my liberal FB friends into a tizzy. JFK was a pro-American anti-communist. I guess he was the last Democrat to hold those two views.
All it proves is what JFK said in 1963. It’s pure speculation that he would, or wouldn’t, feel the same today, and everyone is free to argue either way. Clearly, use of the footage is not wrong or unethical-the Dems just don’t like it. Tough.
Why not, Reagan did it in 80’? It tee-d the Kennedy's off then too. For Reagan it was especially sweet since it had the double benefit of reminding Kennedy Democrats that Carter had “kicked his ass,” (President Carter's words) in the primary battle and making them even less likely to work for Carter in the fall.
‘Presidents are presidents of the entire United States, not just some people’
Well yeah, before the ‘age of Obama’.
The Rats’ have been using videos of Pubbies’ like Bush for their own lib agenda so why not the other way around?
This is worse than if MLK's family tried to earn roalties off his "I Have a Dream" speech.

She doesn't want stimulus? She wants to repay fat cat millionaires? Is that it? They why was Ted Kennedy a million dollar marxist who had WAY more money than he says the rest of us ever would need?
