The woman flung the vegetable at the bear, striking it and forcing it to flee.

I'm glad it worked, but I dunno about the "forcing" it to flee part. It might not work the next time.

Bookmark for the wife.
Now maybe she will believe me when I say not even a bear in the woods would eat one.
Perhaps you know of a lima bean story? They are even worse.

This woman had better watch her backside. Even as we read, black ops specialists are being dispatched to take her and her squash into protective custody. Zucchini now has Taliban Terminator written all over it. All they're going to have to do is design a shipping case to get it overseas.

The Brady group are organizing a section to take away your zuchini rights as we speak. There is no way a zuchini is covered under the 2nd amendment!!!

This reminds me of the joke about the farm wife who called the extension office to report that zucchini was growing all over her garden and wondering what she could do with it.

Replied the agent "Treat the vines with 2-4-D or Roundup."

Just spent 3 weeks in Montana and was carrying a .44 mag and a large can of bear spray. Who knew I was totally mis-armed?

“Police say a Montana woman fended off a bear attack with an unlikely weapon — a zucchini.”

This was just NOT the story it could have been ... why was she packing a zucchini? Was the bear an “acquaintance” or just a passing animal? Were there any signs of a struggle? Inquiring minds want to know ...

Really.

I wouldn’t recommend taking a zucchini to a bear fight.
