Part of Gov. Chris Christies belt-tightening plan for New Jersey was the termination of $7.5 million in public funding for Planned Parenthood clinics in the state, a decision Democrats in the legislature countermanded with a bill that cleared the Senate with a 30-10 vote sufficient to override a veto. But when that veto came and the Democrats scheduled an override vote, Republicans in the legislature backed down, and the measure failed 23-17.

They should never have received public funds to begin with.
Le the Dims create an anti-charity to fund their own diorty wiork.
Brilliant.
Your name belies your wit!
God bless Chris Christie.
And you know what? I’d say that even if I was a pro-choicer. Government has no business funding PP.
God Bless Governor Christie.
I could see a future beyond the governors office for him. I voted for him, and proud of it. He has a nasty temper too, i love it when he takes to the libs / NEA
Who cares what Christie did? My die-hard followers and I will still loudly insist he's not a social conservative and he's a Whitman-style liberal. It doesn't matter how he governs, we ain't gonna stop screaming "RINO" at him every chance we get.
Have any substantive examples to prove your assertion?
This is FANTASTIC news!
I don’t disagree with you but to many here on FR “conservatism” is defined (exclusively to some) by social conservatism and specifically abortion issues.
Christie/Brewer would be my ideal ticket at this point in time.
Re #54
Thank you.
The whole point of my post is the people attacking Christie as a “RINO” and saying he’s no social conservative have nothing to back up their accusations.
Ok...I misunderstood... ;-))
To many Christie bashers here, he's "not a social conservative" exclusively because his record on guns (which isn't even a social issue!) and immigration is not perfect. The fact he's solid on the other 80% of social issues is ignored by them, they continually assert he is a "RINO"
If we analyzed politicians solely based on their positions on guns and immigration, Howard Dean could be considered a "social conservative"
Exactly why should taxpayers be funding Planned Parenthood in the first place????
1. They are finding agencies for abortionists. They find and refer clients. And the abortionists make a mint killing babies. In short, they should be funding their own finding agencies. They can manage that by raising their rates to a cost that covers all their expenses...to include advertising and finders fees. No way I should be subsidizing their gruesome trade.
2. They are birth control agencies for those who are too lazy to look up info on their own or too dependent to buy their own sex prevention materials. Again, no way I should be subsidizing anyone’s sexual proclivities. Sheesh...this isn’t rocket science.
There are huge numbers of these kinds of things: from endowment for the arts to the education department. Neither of which has any business being subsidized by state or fed.
Praise God, and thank God the budget had to be cut because of our bad economy! Otherwise, this wouldn’t have happened, eh?
EXCELLENT! If they want to continue with their murderous ways, let them scrounge around for private money!
God bless Christie!
The pro life position is the single most important issue for conservatives. This is the one that Liberals sputter and fume about when confronted with.
I know...seen them sputter and fume many times.
