Barack Obama told the Hispanic Caucus in his speech that Mexicans were here in America long before the United States was an idea.

Better check the textbooks in the Madrasas in Indonesia!
What are they teaching future US Presidents?
When Slick Willy told a whopper I knew he knew the truth and was BSing. With Zer0 I am always on the fence as to whether he is BSing or just dumb as a stump. I am sure American history isn’t covered very well in Indonesian schools.
This guy doesn’t think, act or talk like an American.
so WHAT....and what ideas has mexico come up with within obama’s time frame ?
Obama’s ignorance of history is only exceeded by his narciscism and intellectual hubris that got us into this mess. Simply put, he seems to know nothing but the Marxist dogma he inhaled with whatever else he snorted as a “child”. But thank you (as a former Arizonan whose ancestors helped settle the new state when everyone was on a first name basis with the Goldwaters and made it into the formerly prosperous state it was) for correcting the historical record.
Thanks also to Verginius Rufus (Poster #139) for correcting the historical record. As an amateur student of pre-Columbian history and early Mexico, and a frequent visitor to study that’s country’s ancient civilizations before the drug wars, I am baffled about all the talk about Mexico taking huge sections of the United States back.
I think it is safe to say that without the success of the American Revolution there would be no independent Mexico, not to mention the moral and material support that Benito Juarez (the first President of Mexico of Indian, PC: Native American, ancestry) received from the United States to kick out the French. Without that, the siginificance of Cinco de Mayo, the heroic victory of the vastly outnumbered Mexican militia over the French at Puebla, would have been diminished.
It can be argued that US influence twice at least helped Mexico to guarantee its independence. Aside from the sometimes questionable correspondence between Lincoln and Juarez, there is the misplacement of 30,000 rifles by General Sheridan which were “recovered” by Juarez’ forces to guarantee Mexican independence from the French. Andrew Johnson also invoked the Monroe Doctrine to give Mexican nationalists a boost in reclaiming their country.
Obama’s ignorance of history is astonishing for someone who “graduated” from Columbia and Harvard Law. Then again, maybe not.
But only one had the ideas of natural rights, freedom, and we don't need a king, that made America unique. And it wasn't the Mexicans
As someone further upthread said 0blahblah is making VP Biteme look like a rocket scientist. lol
The thing is that, if one goes back to 1530, that’s like 20 generations. Knowing one ancestor 20 generations back means that one knows just one of one’s 1,048,576 great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents (of course, going that far back, some of the 1,048,576 names are certain to appear more than once in one’s family tree). Genealogy is interesting and fun, but it really puts in perspective how much one *doesn’t* know about one’s exact ancestry.
BTW, are you partly of Native American descent? I ask because stories of Virginia Dare’s possible descendants usually point to her having married a member of one of the Indian tribes around NC. If you have Native American ascent, then you can call *everyone* a newcomer. : )
Define idea.
True. He is definitely trying to triangulate but in a very different way than Clintoon did. What is amazing is how tone deaf he is to how he comes across to most Americans. He is stealthy and manipulative but very clumsy at it.
Yes, I have Native American ancestors — Cherokee from roughly North Carolina. My maternal great, great, great grandmother had apparently died and to hide my great, great, great, great, (boy, that gets old in a hurry) widowed aunt (who had been married to my great x 4 grandfather’s brother) from the Trail of Tears, my grandfather married his brother’s wife, Carolina. She was much beloved from the stories my grandmother told. So, yes, half my family immigrated (or came on the prison ships) and the other half was here to meet them.
No doubt Obama’s dexterity will improve once the violence starts. I am convinced he wants it desperately, he has no where else to go.
So far we have kept him coralled.
ohhhh bad
yes...
When your grandmother told you the family legend that you all are descendants of Virginia Dare’s, did she say anything about your Native American ancestors being Welsh-speaking Indians? There were several (unconfirmed) 17th and 18th century accounts of European explorers and settlers running into Welsh-speaking, gray-eyed Indians in North Carolina and thereabouts (presumably descended from Roanoke colonists).
I think he will make even more mistakes though. His base is abandoning him and if he really is a pathological narcissist, which I am reasonably certain he is, he will get nasty and careless. He may get his wish for blood in the streets but he won’t get the outcome he desires from it.
You missed tequila.
