The gifted artist is alive and well, thankfully. But on the insistence of top security specialists at the FBI, she is, as they put it, "going ghost": moving, changing her name, and essentially wiping away her identity. She will no longer be publishing cartoons in our paper or in City Arts magazine, where she has been a regular contributor. She is, in effect, being put into a witness-protection program—except, as she notes, without the government picking up the tab. It's all because of the appalling fatwa issued against her this summer, following her infamous "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" cartoon.
Norris views the situation with her customary sense of the world's complexity, and absurdity. When FBI agents, on a recent visit, instructed her to always keep watch for anyone following her, she joked, "Well, at least it'll keep me from being so self-involved!" It was, she says, the first time the agents managed a smile. She likens the situation to cancer—it might basically be nothing, it might be urgent and serious, it might go away and never return, or it might pop up again when she least expects it.
We're hoping the religious bigots go into full and immediate remission, and we wish her the best.
seems like the good guys are on the run these days.
Maybe we need some “Molly Maguires” for Molly.
Life under the kenyan...hiding in fear from Muslims.
America weeps.
I think the Ground Zero mosque should be renamed the Molly Norris Mosque. That name represents Islam much more accurately.
The FBI probably also told the Minister who was going to burn the Korans, if you do you’re toast. You’ll have to run and hide for the rest of your life. In this way Holder and Bambi are quietly intimidating anyone who stands up to the Muslims.
Don’t expect Obama to speak out in defense of Molly’s first amendment rights.
Where is Salman Rushdie these days?
Not long ago (2007) he appeared in a movie with Helen Hunt and Bette Midler, “Then She Found Me.”
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0455805/
IMDb.com says: “The late Ayatollah Khomeini declared a fatwa against him for the novel “The Satanic Verses” on 14th February 1989.”
America weeps.
And reloads...
Keep your ammo close and your Bible closer.
The FBI and the entire DOJ have been infiltrated. She’s not safe with that crew. They’ll out her.
His own book was burned by Muslim fanatics, and a fatwa was put on his head, but firebrand author Salman Rushdie said yesterday that he supports a mosque and Islamic cultural center just two blocks from Ground Zero. "It's just a stupid argument," said Rushdie, after he spoke at the Brooklyn Book Festival. "Of course they should be able to build a mosque there." The author of "The Satanic Verses" said the debate over the proximity of the mosque to Ground Zero was ridiculous, since a mosque was inside the World Trade Center itself. Rushdie said he treasured America's First Amendment rights -- but not when it came to Florida Pastor Terry Jones' Koran-torching threats.
I couldn’t agree more. See you in the mines.
What say you Obummer?
“I couldnt agree more. See you in the mines.”
Yep. We could use another Cuchulain.
I get two things from this. Either the FBI just plainly admitted that they cannot protect us from terrorist threats from overseas. That they are completely incompetent and can’t preform their duties accordingly. Or they are completely at the beck and call of this Admin and was ordered to shut her up and to do it without inciting a revolution so she is going “ghost” Interesting code name huh ? Either way we are screwed and need to protect ourselves. What would happen to me if I posted a youtube video of some of my Muslim drawings, think I might just for sh*ts and giggles.
I am getting this message when I try to go to the link;
“The requested URL /related/to/Everybody+Draw+Mohammed+Day was not found on this server.”
I drew Mohammed with a pig’s body. All I’ve got is one threat to chop off my hands.
I been dissed!
