Statement from Alaska Republican Party:
Anchorage, Alaska -
Today Senator Lisa Murkowski announced she would re-enter Alaska's US Senate race as a write in candidate. Regardless of her decision the Alaska Republican Party stands firm behind our elected Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller.
"The Alaska Republican Party has been respectful of Senator Murkowski's service and tried to give her a moment of pause with which she could come to the right decision," said Alaska Republican Party Chairman Randy Ruedrich. "I am disappointed the Senator has decided not to respect the will of Alaska's Republican Primary voters. The 2010 Republican Primary turnout of 110,688 set a new Republican turnout record. I was hoping Senator Murkowski would recognize this fact and acknowledge this election was not an anomaly, misunderstanding, or mistake, but rather the definitive decision of a large plurality of Alaska primary voters. That decision deserves her respect."
"I want to make perfectly clear to Senator Murkowski and all of Alaska's Republicans that she will receive no support of any kind from the Alaska Republican Party," Ruedrich went on to say. "Lisa has chosen to run against the Republican Party and its primary voters. We will treat her candidacy as we would anyone who chooses to oppose our party's nominees."
Lisa, the Whiner, Murkowski, is just going to hurt the Dems more than Joe. She got votes for her liberalism from Dems, not from conservatives.
Look at Florida: Crist is catching flak from both sides and fell in the polls. He is competing more against Meeks, than Rubio, who is up by double digits.
Did he play the nasty message on Greta? He ought to play it over and over and over again. This is the way royality, unbound by a constitution, acts when their throne is threatened by the peasants.
Well, were I a donor to her campaign, I’d demand the immediate return of my money, but as Joe Miller pointed out, the majority of Murlowski’s money comes from ‘out of state’ = lobbyists.
She’s one of the bought and paid for, corrupt incumbents.
Yeah, that was in Eagle River during the Bear Paw festival. I think it made some national news (MSNBC??). It does tend to freak out the Libs.
I myself have freaked out a few liberal tourists when they come across me on a trail or someplace and I’m wearing my .460 S&W. Pretty funny to see their faces.
Even the dems in our community are sick of Lisa and her antics. Actually, it's hard finding a dem who will admit they voted dem in last election nowadays; pretty funny.
Been hunting last week or so; haven't heard any good stories; out of the loop.
She’s a sore loserman.
If you read the article, you'll see that he had a major run-in with both Governor Sarah Palin and Regional GOP Party Chairman Joe Miller, in March of 2008.
~snips~
Alaska Republican Party Chairman Randy Ruedrich, who has sparred with Republican Gov. Sarah Palin, faces a possible coup if he does not resign at the state convention next weekend.Regional GOP Party Chairman Joe Miller, a Fairbanks attorney, told The Associated Press Saturday there's a "groundswell of support" from party members that could lead to a vote for Ruedrich's ouster.
Ruedrich, however, says he intends to finish his four-year term, which expires in 2010, and represent the state at the national convention this summer.
Hopefully, that’s exactly what will happen. Murkowski, the wicked, really wants Joe Miller to lose.
No, he just described the message. I hope he gets around to playing it. The wicked witch deserves to be shamed.
Ruedrich gets it.
Hunting, huh? Well, good for you! I’m just happy to know that you’re safely home.
I’m also glad to hear that Lisa’s stunt won’t be well received. The witch should have accepted her loss and called it a day. Tonight, I learned from Joe’s interview with Greta, that she only called him to concede, but couldn’t bring herself to say “congratulations.”
Later on, she called to leave him a nasty voice mail. I hope he plays it sometime soon.
What do you mean? That he’s fair? I certainly hope so.
His letter sound good to me.
There was an internal fight back then to oust Ruedrich as Chairman, that failed on a procedural vote. He was/is a big Frank Murkowski supporter. Don’t know where he stands on Lisa Murkowski. I believe the Party has said they’re behind Miller (publicly anyhow).
The GOP is the Republican primary voters and if the self-annointed mushball royalty don't like that fact, punish them accordingly. We have our votes in elections and we can vote with our purchases of goods and services as well. In this way we trump the money power of the establishmentarian spineless wing of the GOP. We should be lining up the next Alaska US Senate candidate to block Spoiled Lisa's return to politics and to defeat Begich.
We also need to limit (by party rule) GOP primary voting to registered Republican voters. Anyone who will not make that minimal commitment to the GOP has no business partaking in the choosing of its candidates. This will also limit the power of corrupt money in party affairs. Lowell Weicker tried to allow Unaffiliated to vote in CT GOP primaries when he was a Senator so that he could tap the votes of leftists who were not members of the GOP or Demonrat parties. We stopped him. That was in 1988 when we took away his US Senate seat.
I believe the article suggests that Ruedrich has been state GOP chairman ever since 2000 which would seem to indicate that the controversy of 2005-2006 or thereabouts involved him. If so, don't trust him any further than you can throw Alaska with one hand and compel his resignation at the State Convention.
Right, on both counts (at least publicly).
As as write-in, she has no party, correct?
"The right thing has been done here," Palin said Saturday. "Randy was a qualified engineer for the commission but there was a conflict with him being a party chairman."
Ruedrich resigned after a Saturday afternoon conversation with Gov. Frank Murkowski. But Ruedrich said the governor didn't ask him to step down
“She has to get them from the unions, and all that does is steal resources from the Dems.”
Joe Palin is a union guy. For some reason I think that most of the workers there will support Miller.
I think you mean Todd Palin?
“I think you mean Todd Palin?”
Aye. My mistake. A bit late here.
