However, I'm sure that Obama would only be too happy to sign onto such a ridiculous idea. Given that the UN has effectively managed to totally screw up everything they've ever been involved in, I'm quite sure that revenue would go to increase the level of their lavish lifestyle.
The only accountability that the UN has its its dependence on nation state dues. Give it an independent source of funding, and it will become the greatest force for tyranny in human history.

The draft of the outcome document for the MDG Summit already makes note of the Leading Group and its taskforce, and adopts the same goals to find stable and sizeable sources of income for development projects. Thus far, the United States and Switzerland stand in opposition to the idea. Global tax proponents have remarked that U.S. support is vital in order to make it happen.
Michael Miller, an expert on poverty solutions and economic development at the Acton Institute, criticized the global solidarity levy saying, “It is based on a classic misunderstanding about the nature of wealth creation and is a frenetic last-ditch attempt to salvage the MDGs. If the US pulled all "donations" to the UN, it would be a different type of organization. We fund it and are largely responsible for the very few (objectionably speaking) successes anyone could dare cite of the UN. The UN, and most of the world, hates us. I think the UN should be moved to a US military base in Cuba. That way delgates can visit friends when they are in town.
