No, the three NY1 Wiseguys have no problem with the idea of Republican Carl Paladino becoming governor of New York -- other than the fact that in an open letter released today, the trio calls Paladino every name in the book.
They write that in the GOP primary between Paladino and vanquished Rick Lazio, "anger overcame reason and enabled a fringe element to choose the Republican nominee. The end result was the selection of Mr. Paladino, a divisive figure simply not fit to lead this great state."
Other thoughts from the letter, which you can peruse for yourself below:
"Mr. Paladino practices a destructive brand of politics that will divide our state."
"... he has shared racially offensive e-mails with associates"
On Paladino's "Dignity Corps," which he said would provide the indigent with training in job skills and "personal hygiene": "That type of hateful comment has no place in our discourse, dehumanizing the poor and playing off of despicable racist ideas."

An Open Letter to New Yorkers
The victory of Carl Paladino in the Republican Primary was a disappointingm day for all New Yorkers. This state has a long history of electing highly qualified, forward-looking statewide candidates - both Democrats and Republicans. Yesterday, however, anger overcame reason and enabled a fringe element to choose the Republican nominee. The end result was the selection of Mr. Paladino, a divisive figure simply not fit to lead this great state.
At a time when we need leaders who can bring New Yorkers together, Mr.
Paladino practices a destructive brand of politics that will divide our state.
He first came to the attention of most New Yorkers when it was revealed
that, for years, he has shared racially offensive emails with associates.
Including videos popular with white supremacists, these emails are beneath
the dignity of a candidate for high office.
This, however, was merely a preview of what we have seen along the
campaign trail. Mr. Paladino was justifiably condemned by the Anti-
Defamation League and editorial boards alike for referring to Assembly
Speaker Sheldon Silver - a prominent Jewish leader - as the closest
thing New York has to an anti-Christ or a Hitler. Most recently, Mr.
Paladino offended basic New York values when he suggested that low
income New Yorkers should be sent to prison work camps for lessons
in “personal hygiene.” That type of hateful comment has no place in our
discourse, dehumanizing the poor and playing off of despicable racist ideas.
Mr. Paladino is also running a disingenuous campaign. He has portrayed
himself as an anti-government crusader, while embodying the very worst of
Albany’s pay-to-play culture. To quote his own slogan, he is the reason that
New Yorkers are “Mad as Hell.”
He has personally distributed close to a half a million dollars to federal
and state candidates, bankrolling the campaigns of numerous allies. This
has allowed him to pocket millions of dollars in tax incentives, sweetheart
deals, and scores of government contracts. Paladino’s real estate
empire takes in over $10 million each year in government rents alone.
There’s a reason why even the chairmen of the Republican and Conservative parties disavowed Mr. Paladino’s candidacy, noting that he “stands in stark contrast to what the Republican party stands for,” that Paladino is a “dangerous candidate,” and that he “tries to appeal to the mean spiritedness” of people.
We need a governor who can take on the special interests, not one who is a special interest. We also need a governor who will bring New Yorkers together to take on our common challenges, not drive us apart. Through his own words and actions Carl Paladino has proven himself unfit to serve as Governor - he is exactly the wrong person to lead our state.

I heard Karl McCall on the radio this morning and screamed.
these career hacks and phonies need to go in both parties.
I am so done with the GOP RINO’s its not even funny.
RE: So what do they suggest New Yorker do? Vote for Cuomo?
That should be obvious to all.
The disappointment here is Al D’Amato. He is (or used to be) a Republican.
I can’t believe it. We’re finding out more ever day that we’ve been hoodwinked. All these years, decades actually, I was led to believe the Republicans and Democrats were enemies. Now I discover the elites in BOTH parties are colluding against us, the people. It’s well beyond political parties now. The rot runs deep, very deep.
Fringe element? Paladino won by a nearly 2-1 margin. That’s pretty fringe! /s
HOW DARE THEY!!!
Hehehe!

The second part when he gets into abortion and gay marriage is priceless.
RE: I heard Karl McCall on the radio this morning and screamed.
Both Koch and McCall tag teamed this morning to attack Paladino as a loon at the drive time radio program — The John Gambling Show. They came one after the other on the same hour.
John Gambling made a remark after that saying -— “I wonder ... if Paladino is a small time annoyance and NOT a political threat, why are these biggies teaming up to attack him?”.
Gambling also said that he has invited Andrew Cuomo to his radio program fifty to sixty times and thus far, has not received any acceptance.
Riiiight. Wanting to get homeless folks into the mainstream by providing them with job training and instruction in good grooming habits is now racist.
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," - Joe "I Need Brains" Bite-me
It is time to wake up and smell the coffee. Guys like McCain, Gingrich, Graham, McConnell, Cantor, Cornyn, etc. are part of the GOP Quisling class that has been running the GOP for too long. It really is the elites or ruling class versus the people. Time to take back our country. These bastards have led us to ruin.
I am 1000% on the paladino bandwagon and already signed up to volunteer for him.
The guy you wanted Lazio lost, suck it up.
Do AAmato, Koch and McCall realize they are impugning the integrity of a majority of New Yorkers?
The race was not even close. Paladino won by something like 75% to 25%.
These old goats need to go back to their pasture.
RE: Now I discover the elites in BOTH parties are colluding against us, the people. Its well beyond political parties now.
New York is pretty much a good old boys club. Republicans and Democrats in this state exchange notes all the time and often, even agree as to who they should put out in the general elections as their candidates.
Heck, we even had a few comical circus days in Albany where a few Democrats switched sides to become Republicans for a few days in order to win power for themselves.
Luckily, the two clowns who did this — Pedro Espada and Hiram Monserrat have been relegated to the dustbin of political history in the primaries.
Both these clowns have criminal accusations against them BTW.
The implication here is that they would have preferred Rick Lazio. That speaks volumes about Lazio.
The machine gun attacks against Paladino are coming in fast and furious. Unlike Jim DeMint in South Carolina who is practically ignoring Alvin Greene’s challenge, they are taking the possibility of Paladino winning VERY SERIOUSLY. Hence, the attacks.
READ THIS :
The statement is from, among others, former City Comptroller Bill Thompson, former state Comptroller (and onetime Cuomo rival) Carl McCall, NAACP’s Hazel Dukes, Brooklyn Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries and New York Urban League president Arva Rice:
“Tuesdays victory by Carl Paladino an extreme, polarizing figure should alarm all of us. No major party candidate in recent memory has represented a greater threat to New Yorks longstanding commitment to tolerance and equality than Mr. Paladino.
Mr. Paladino has effectively declared war on communities of color with a series of racially incendiary comments along the campaign trial. We got a taste of this early on when it was discovered that Mr. Paladino had been sending racially offensive emails to associates. Among the emails were smears against President Obama and racist videos popular with white supremacists.
He followed up this disturbing episode with even more despicable comments. For example, Paladino proposed shipping welfare recipients to prison work camps to get lessons in personal hygiene”, telling the New York Times only yesterday that they needed to be taught ‘’basic things, even that they should clean themselves daily and brush their teeth twice a day”. That type of hateful attack demeans low income New Yorkers, makes poverty a crime, and plays into harmful racial stereotypes. Given his history, no one should be fooled by his recent attempt to recast the statement as a voluntary workforce development program.
Our governor should be uniting our state and spurring economic empowerment statewide, not pitting one group against another. Yet Mr. Paladino has sent a clear message to minority communities: we are not welcome in his businesses nor would we be welcome in his administration.
The African American leaders who demanded that Mr. Paladino immediately issue an apology for his hateful remarks should be applauded. Characteristically, Mr. Paladino has not even dignified this request with a response.
Mr. Paladinos lack of integrity goes beyond his racially inflammatory comments. His entire campaign is based on a lie. He rails against government spending and Albany corruption, except when the spending benefits him personally or the insider deals concern his real estate empire. Mr. Paladino has gotten rich thanks to Albanys pay-to-play culture, giving a half million dollars to well-placed politicians and, in return, getting millions in government contracts, sweetheart deals, and tax incentives.
Mr. Paladino represents the problem, not the solution to the serious, systemic challenges facing this state. He is unfit to be our governor, and we plan to do everything in our power to keep him and his dangerous ideas out of the statehouse.”
