More House Democrats call for tax cuts for all

WASHINGTON – More Democrats joined Republicans on Wednesday in calling for the preservation of tax breaks for Americans of every income level, bolting this election season from President Barack Obama's plan to preserve cuts for families who earn less than $250,000 and let taxes rise for the wealthiest Americans. But Obama placed the blame for the stalled proposal squarely on Republicans.

"They want to hold these middle class tax cuts hostage until they get an additional tax cut for the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans," the president said in afternoon remarks.

"Doesn't it make sense for us to move forward with the tax cuts that we all agree on?" Obama added. "We should be able to extend, right now, middle-class tax relief on the first $250,000 of income."

Nervous Democrats are among those with concerns about the president's plan.

I just wish Republicans would counter this nonsense about "the rich." Cutting middle class taxes and letting them rise for top earners ain't going to do squat to rebuild the economy. Plus Obamacare & other regulations will eat the tax cuts up anyway.

An "additional" tax cut? They are just wanting to leave the rates the same as they are with no change.

It's no surprise, but continues to be frustrating, that the President can just say things like this that are obviously not true and the media just reports it without pointing this out.

Maybe because of the fear of the biggest wipeout against the Democrats since 1994, mostly because Americans want at least the 2003 tax cuts retained and eventually more substantial overhauls so it encourages American residents and businesses to keep their savings and capital investments in the USA?
