The Reason Why the MSM cannot dismantle the Tea Party (And it's Crucial that it not change)

Posted on 09/15/2010 4:28:13 PM PDT by Scythian

The reason that the Tea Party cannot be dismantled by the press (even though they are desperately trying) is simple:

"It has no central leader, no official structure, and therefore there is nothing to attack."

So you're thinking, duh, we know that. I think this simple fact is so key to the Tea Parties success and I hope it doesn't change. The reason is they only thing they can attack are Tea Party supporters, and everytime they do that they are attacking normal everyday American's and it turns around and bites them, and awakens yet more people. It's a beautiful thing.

George Washington predicted Parties could be the end of the Republic, maybe it's time we take the constition one step further and as a group, refuse to be lumped into a party like the GOP where they can take the electorate for granted.

Let the media attack the people, it doesn't work. And Kudo's for Glenn Beck for urging folks not to bring signs to the rally. There was nothing kooky for them to report on, brilliant.

What they fear most is “leaderless opposition”.

In other words...

“We The People”

You’re forgetting all the desperate attempts the MSM are making to put forth the Tea Party as a 3rd party and getting them to go Perot.

Correct. The career politicians of both parties need to go. The only way there will be change is if we say “YOU’RE FIRED.” If they don’t fear for their job, they will continue the status quo.

Alinsky must be rolling over with no one person to “isolate” and attack.

Indeed, the entire Tea Party movement is a bottom up political movement just like the protests against the British in the 1760's were the same way. And that scares everyone insider the Beltway because it proves that Americans want real change like appropriately-sized government, fixing the income tax system, and lot less interference by the Federal government in local affairs.

In my humble opinion, the ONLY places the Federal government has a place should be national defense, limiting the power of the largest business entities, controlling a common currency and handling building projects too big for any large corporation to do. They should butt out everywhere else.

The conservatives have learned they have power without a party. Why wouldn’t they keep using it for a long time?

Good article.

They can attack Palin and try to make her the TEA Party leader, but she’s not.

OUR Candidates will rise to the top shortly.

Think DeMint and Bachmann 2012.

Yes, very similar. Committees of Correspondence. A Tea Party person today is a one of the Sons of Liberty then.

"It has no central leader, no official structure, and therefore there is nothing to attack."

Exactly right! I was just talking about that very same point today with some coworkers. The MSM/Dem's/Libs are super frustrated there is not a central figure to destroy. They can attempt to destroy Palin but the Tea Party marches forward.

I believe one of Alinsky's rules for radicals is to not attack intuitions but to attack individuals to isolate and humiliate them. They can't do that with the Tea Party. Remember when the Tea Party started to get some traction and all of the MSM reporters would go to rallies and DEMAND to know who is the leader?

They know they are screwed for the very reason you listed. They have no one to attack but the ideals that built this country -- which in turn pisses off more and more non-Tea Party Americans who begin to side with the Tea Party.

Sure hope it's a long time before some 'conservative' Democrat persuades the TEA party of anything. Collectively, Democrats are a National Disaster.

I like that “it’s just us” - I really can’t believe they don’t get it.

First time I heard O speak - I remember what my father said on election night 1964 - he spoke of teacher’s unions slowly changing the facts of history - the liberals would go into law and the courts and slowly change things, TV would lower moral standards etc etc.

From 1964 until Sept 2008 I never watched TV, read a newspaper or voted. Never paid attention. What a shock when I started to hear him speak. I remembered my father’s predictions - looked at the world around me - went into Irish fighting mode (politically).

I raised four kids without ever mentioning politics.

When I had them listen to O speeches they had the same reaction - four staunch conservatives.

Well I hope to say in November:

Nancy:

You lied to us

You lied about us

You lost your job
