Controversial Program Tracks Preschoolers with Electronic Tags

Officials in Contra Costa County, California are using RFID (radio frequency identification) technology to track some 240 preschoolers as part of a new Head Start program to keep the children safe and to make better use of its teachers.

I’ve been reading a lot about those RFID tags in my business tech course. They can have some cool uses, but they they freak me out when it comes to privacy issues...

These tags are sown in to the little vests they wear. All a child abductor has to do is take it off the kid and toss it in the back of another car or bus. This is a stupid waste of time and money........
