Carl Paladino loves to bluster about going after Albany's powerbrokers with a baseball bat, but the only thing he's likely to beat to a pulp is the state GOP's credibility.
Or what's left of it, anyway.
Paladino's brand of ill-informed Tea Party rage sold well with the minority of Republicans who turned out for Tuesday's primary, letting him humiliate a lackluster Rick Lazio.
But it spells almost certain disaster for his fellow Republicans in November - and beyond.
Why?
Because the reckless statements, hollow promises and dumb ideas that have been coming from the Buffalo millionaire's mouth ...
[snip]
Paladino started his race to the bottom by comparing President Obama's health care plan with 9/11 - callously exploiting a national tragedy to score a cheap political point.
He followed up by targeting ugly rhetoric at Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, joking about parading the Manhattan Democrat to jail through upstate towns so that locals could "beat him up a little bit."
Then he floated policy proposals that were unworkable (such as cutting a fifth of the state budget in one year) or illegal (such as barring newcomers to New York from applying for welfare or Medicaid).
The lowest of the lows was his demagogic scheme to block construction of an Islamic center in lower Manhattan - which he slurred as a "monument to those who attacked our country" - by seizing the property through eminent domain.

Don't you Freepers agree that Libtards like Hammond are kind of funny when they get off their meds
So NYers should have just voted to send Lazio to slaughter, just like the dems want — at least Paladino will shake things up. I am glad I voted for him last night
Kickass Carl.....kick their commie asses.
You can't beat what doesn't exist.
This used to be a decent paper. My dad taught me to read by having me sound out the one-syllable words in Daily News headlines. Sad.
BTTT!
This one has made my day!
Lazio would not have won.
We’ve started to shake up the GOP and the left so lets keep it up! I love the panicked disdain filling the liberal news media today!
“Paladino started his race to the bottom by comparing President Obama’s health care plan with 9/11 - callously exploiting a national tragedy to score a cheap political point.”
When truth becomes a “Callous, Radical talking point!”, we have problem, folks....
GOP credibility...HAHAHAHAH
My new tagline - thank you very much! Love it!
Notice all phones are on “take a message”!!! Republicans are not taking phone call this morning, esp. Mr. John Cornyn.... grrrr
"And how dare they!", cries the Ruling Class.
Great post.
Paladino can win if he focuses on jobs, the economy and cutting taxes and government spending.
Andrew Cuomo and Fannie and Freddie
Cuomo is right at ground zero for most of the financial meltdown.
"...He took actions thatin combination with many other factorshelped plunge Fannie and Freddie into the subprime markets without putting in place the means to monitor their increasingly risky investments..."
People should be constantly reminded of his role in what we are going through today. He should be banned from politics for life.
Kelo v. New London: brought to you by the liberals on the Supreme Court. Be careful what you wish for. LOL
“...hollow promises and dumb ideas...”
Does he mean Cap and Trade, High Taxes, DEficit Spending, Government Health Care, and other brilliant Progressive/Democrat policies?
