The protester who burned pages from the Koran outside a planned mosque near Ground Zero has been fired from NJTransit, sources and authorities said Tuesday.
Derek Fenton's 11-year career at the agency came to an abrupt halt Monday after photographs of him ripping pages from the Muslim holy book and setting them ablaze appeared in newspapers.

He has 2 kids...
Mr. Fenton’s public actions violated New Jersey Transit’s code of ethics,” an agency statement said.
“NJ Transit concluded that Mr. Fenton violated his trust as a state employee and therefore [he] was dismissed.”
And that could mean anything they want it to mean...
ACLU, where are you?
Sue the bastards.
Funny how the Libs believe that burning the US Flag is somehow a patriotic display of the “freedom of speech/expression”, yet burning pages out of the Satanic Bible AKA The Qu’ran on your personal time is somehow an offense...
NJ Transit is mostly likely a Union gig - so where is the Union??? Oh - WAIT - union doesn’t help non-Libs...
When was the last time someone was fired for burning a flag? (crickets)
If he was on the job or even in uniform, NJTransit might have a point. In the accompanying picture he looks like any anonymous (not anymore!) citizen in blue jeans and a polo shirt.
A former company a I worked for tried to put claim on behavior from the front of my door in the morning and back again after work.
I’m not gonna say who it was because its been years since I was at this diversity training where this was brought up; I might have misremembered it. And yes, they are pretty big.
As an aside, I learned that I don’t really discriminate, even against long haired hippy types, unless they had a beard. It was pretty common in the class to have really negative connotations attached to facial hair. I always found that funny; not so much after 9/11 though.
At the end of the day the basis for his termination is fear of islamic reprisals, PERIOD. The West has been thoroughly cowed by Islam, their terrorism has been effective and that's pretty clear now. Just about every leader in the free world begged that pastor not to burn the Koran, and you can bet your last dollar they weren't trying to "spare the feelings of good muslims". These cowardly men deeply feared a barbarian uprising, and nothing else. Islamists view the decision to not burn their evil book as a major victory in their endeavor to cow and subjugate the world. Imagine, an American was intimidated by Islamists into not doing something completely legal on his own property.
Until American males grow back their balls and wrest political and cultural control back from the pansies, she-males, homos, liberals and feminists that presently run this dying nation of our, there isn't going to be much hope of a great revival.
Relax, this courageous guy is going to make it big!
Screw islam!
Did you hear today that Justice Steven Beyer was relating burning a quran, koran, whatever to shouting, “Fire” in a movie theater?
Guess what folks, we have a super stupid Latino & a Lesibian on the court now. What in the wide, wide world of sports is going to happen with this country now?
Christ Cristy needs to fire the head of NJ transit.
Something really bad might have happened to him.
Right?
Right...
Bible burning happens frequently but the media and politicians never object:
Mr. Fenton needs to run for office now.
“Sounds like he has grounds for a lawsuit!”
God knows what page 45 of his contract said...
If Fenton was fired for burning the Koran while off-duty, his First Amendment rights probably were violated, Chris Dunn of the New York Civil Liberties Union said.
Maybe the Mayor of NJ will give him a job after the Mayors attack on “Imama” Rufio :op
I believe if he was fired for demonstrating, he has a legal case.
Anyone at that job know about 1st amendment rights?
Derek Fenton and his family will be in my prayers; may God protect them and keep them safe. I hope other FReepers join me.
