Obama's War On Light Bulbs
National Review Online ^ | September 13, 2010 | Greg Pollowitz

What would Thomas Edison say? IBD editors:

Eco-Extremism: A light bulb factory closes in Virginia as mandated fluorescents are made in China. It’s now a crime to make or ship for sale 75-watt incandescent bulbs in the European Union. Welcome to green hell.

Thomas Alva Edison was a genius credited with the invention of many things — the phonograph, the motion picture, the incandescent light bulb, global warming. That last credit was given by those who rank light bulbs right up there with the internal combustion engine as ravagers of the planet.

I went to Walmart last week and bought 16 4-packs of different wattages and now they are up in my attic.

There’s a picture of Al Gore in the article. He looks like a bloated alcoholic. I think he’s seriously binge drinking.

Do incandescent bulbs go bad in storage? Do they expire?

I would demand an LED equivalent be made for standard light bulbs. LEDs are by far less toxic, and even more efficient than flourescent lights in consumption. There’s far more semi-conducting material on Earth than there is Mercury or Halogen gases.

To maximize your buying, start with the 100 watters only.

These are the first to be phased out in 2012, followed by lower wattages in subsequent years.

GE (the company Edison founded!) has just shut down their last light bulb manufctroing plant in the US.

Obama’- Pelosi’s “green jobs” initiative puts several hundred more American NY employees out of work.

Obama’- Pelosi’s “green jobs” initiative doesn employ more Communist Chinese workers making fluorescent and overseas filament bulbs though. Funny how that worked out, isn’t it?

Problem with environmentalists is that they advocate being behind the curve, not ahead of it. The curve being the technology available for use.

Obama is an agent for the Saudis. They are the leading exporters of Islam and builders of mosques in western countries.

GE and the Saudi King’s nephew have tens of billions in business deals, they own stock in GE. GE and there NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, Universal spew pro-Obama crap 24x7. Obama and the Saudis announced a big $60 billion defense sale cause the Saudis know people are sick of their agent.

Keep their temperature fairly constant and protect from breakage and I don’t think there’s any “expiration”.

On the other hand, they have plans to “get” you anyway.
They’re already batting around the idea of requiring a home energy efficiency certificate (including CFL bulbs) in order to sell your house.

What do we do for heat lamps? Sometimes you WANT the inefficiency of an incandescent bulb for a specific purpose. A CFL isn’t going to keep the reptiles warm.

Thanks, will do. What about the decorative-looking ones for ceiling fans and bathrooms shaped like candles? Are they not long for this world?
