The number of American Jews who consider themselves religiously observant has dropped by more than 20 percent over the last 20 years, a survey found. The share of Jews who consider themselves secular has risen.
The results of the 2008 American Religious Identification Survey, as reported by the Associated Press, showed that around 3.4 million U.S. Jews say they are religious, out of a total American Jewish population of about 5.4 million.
The relative share of Jews who identify themselves as only culturally Jewish rose from 20 percent in 1990 to 37 percent in 2008, the survey established. During the same period of time, the number of all U.S. adults (Jewish and non-Jewish) who said they had no religion rose from 8 to 15 percent.

They were not very observent on Nov. 4, 2008!
I think you will find the same results in many religions. INCLUDING ISLAM.
I’ll say they’re not paying attention.
They keep voting for people who hate them.
That’s counter-intutive. The Orthodox often have 8 kids or more, and the seculars average wouldn’t even make a good fielding percentage.
Dang, you beat me to it.
Nor were they very damn observant in the months leading up to 11/4/08.
But they'll be quick to criticize REPUBLICANS when U.S. policy towards Israel goes south!
Who to believe.....

Don’t they have editors at that place?
What Judaism?
Ummm.... boy do I feel a little duh moment.
US vs Israel.

They’ll be back once the Muslims take over completely.
This would be in line with my personal observations from visiting communities around the country, except the use of the term ‘observant’ is a bit misleading.
About 40% of Jews are secular or only culturally (agnostic or atheist) Jewish. About 15-20% would be considered traditionally observant (and those tend to be younger), and the rest consider themselves Reform or Conservative but have given up even any pretense of Sabbath or kashrut.
My place was packed on RH, and it is very well attended every Saturday morning.

They seem quite observant of socialism.
Of actual Judaism and the threat from good observant Muzzies not so much.
Socialism removes the hand of GOD to help your brethren. Society has not faired well when Caesar is the gift holder.

...Elihu Bergman, Assistant Director of the Harvard Center for Population Studies, in a controversial yet disturbing report, had projected in 1975 that unless current trends were reversed, the American Jewish community would decrease by 85% - 98% by the year 2076.
This prognosis now seems to apply to descendants of Secular, Reform and Conservative Jews.
As far as the Orthodox is concerned, the opposite trend has become apparent. As illustrated in the Demographic Chart, multiple research studies have come to the same conclusion: Within three generations there will be almost no trace of young American Jews who are currently not being raised in Orthodox homes with a complete Jewish Day School education...
I doubt it. The decline in observants usually happens among religions that have become part of culture, such as Christianity and Judaism. In the US, Islam is ‘new’, and it resulted in some people attracted to them simply because they are ‘different’.
This is what confuses me. How can one be only culturally Jewish? Or for that matter, how can one be Jewish in their DNA but not observant? I can’t be only culturally Christian. I can’t be Christian just because my Mother was Christian. I either follow my faith or not. I either follow God or not.
No ¨Chosen People¨ identification for them then.
Expected of libtard Jews in the US.....kind of reminds you of libtard Catholics in the US..... =.=
