PITTSBURGH (AP) Officials in a western Pennsylvania school district are apologizing to parents after students at a local high school were accidentally shown pornographic pictures during a presentation on the importance of donating blood.
More than 400 seniors at Norwin High School in North Huntingdon Township were watching the presentation Friday morning when school officials say "a few pornographic pictures" that were on a personal flash drive of a Central Blood Bank representative were shown on the screen.
"It just popped up all of the sudden," and remained on the screen at least 15 seconds, senior Krysta Haines said. "We were like, oh my God, are you serious?"

Ooops—someone brought their spank bank to the blood bank!
Never happened in any of my school assemblies. I must have been born too early. No hot teachers hitting on us either back in my days in school. Oh well...
LOL!
So much for pumping a ball! ;-)
"It just popped up all of the sudden,"
Hmmm...
Those poor high school seniors! I feel so sorry for them-—they must have been shocked! Shocked!
They’ve been robbed of their innocence .......
Same here, we had a few hot teachers but none were interested in school boys.
“A few” pics were shown on the screen? More than one?? yikes!
Well, I don’t know if high schoolers should be targeted as blood donors in the first place. There’s so much wrong with this senario -
“OMG! Porn! Turn to the next slide!”
“OMG! Porn! Turn to the next slide!”
“OMG! Porn! Turn to the next slide!”
“OMG! Porn! Turn to the next slide!”
“OMG! Porn! Turn to the next slide!”
“So THAT’s how you give blood...”
“Never happened in any of my school assemblies. I must have been born too early. No hot teachers hitting on us either back in my days in school. Oh well.”
Yep. In the 50s and 60s, who would have thunk it?
We went through H just to get them on the black market.
Hurry down to the Central Blood Bank on Monday. Job opening!
A ban on using flash drives? I hope that it is only for HIPAA privacy regulation. Wanna bet that the "supervisor" get a whack as well?
Norwin High officials also apologized in a letter to parents and said the police department in the Westmoreland County township about 25 miles east of Pittsburgh had been notified along with the district attorney's office.
In the age of zero tolerance this guy (girl?) could be up for child porn prosecution, and endangerment of 500 minors. Ouch!
"We find this incident inexcusable and are taking every measure we can to ensure that the investigation is carried out with the utmost fidelity," the letter said.
Save some money for your fidelity budget. The employee screwed up.
Detective Sgt. Jeffrey Bouldin said he planned to interview administrators, staff and the employee.
Making sure that no publicity ever goes to waste among our civil servants. I bet that he can drag this out for weeks, reviewing all of the flash drives for dirty pictures. Wonder if he will ask students if the sex ed classes have been any good?
Superintendent William Kerr said a second blood bank presentation for the junior class was canceled. He said the organization has made presentations on blood donation for years with no problems. "We find it quite unacceptable and inappropriate, and safeguards will be taken into consideration in the future," he said.
How about, always use a fresh USB drive for public presentations? Or perhaps figure out that perhaps seniors have passed all of your sex ed courses already, and that you should stop pontificating in front of the cameras?
Senior Ethan Dobranski, 17, said the photos were the No. 1 topic of conversation among students all day. "No one's ever going to forget this," he said.
I bet that blood donations are WAYYY up after this presentations!
The story misses the main point- if the kids were in class doing regular class work, this would not have happened. One more liberal outside organization (central blood bank) getting their hooks into kids. Teachers are fine with this - an assembly is easier than teaching.
“It just popped up all of the sudden,”
was probably 200 boys made the same claim after
First, "school officials say "a few pornographic pictures" that were on a personal flash drive of a Central Blood Bank representative were shown on the screen." A few? Why wasn't the display turned off immediately when the first one was revealed? If it was part of a "presentation", the presenter should be fully in-charge and able to kill the thing immediately. Maybe he left the room to have sex with one of the teachers...
Second, if it was an actual presentation, one would think that it had been prepared in a program similar to Power Point, or, at minimum, simple slideshow software. In either case, pornographic pictures don't just 'pop-up', they have to be selected at some point, either individually or by picking a folder to include in the show.
What kind of idiot prepares a presentation without viewing it to make sure it's done right?
